Davao City’s Central 911 has begun construction of a new satellite station in Barangay Malabog, Paquibato District, as part of efforts to bring emergency services closer to residents in remote communities.
The Davao City Government, through the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO), held the groundbreaking ceremony on September 15, 2026. The new facility will house a fire truck and an ambulance to provide emergency medical and rescue services to Malabog and nearby areas.
CDRRMO head Retired Police Lieutenant Colonel Alfredo Baloran said the station is expected to reduce emergency response times in the area. He said responders traveling from the city center can take more than an hour to reach Malabog, creating a significant gap between an emergency call and the arrival of medical or rescue personnel.
The project is part of the city’s efforts to expand emergency response services to geographically isolated communities. In a message delivered during the groundbreaking, Mayor Sebastian Duterte said Davao City’s large land area makes it important to extend disaster risk reduction and emergency services to residents in remote parts of the city.
The Malabog station is expected to begin operations early next year. Residents welcomed the project, saying faster access to ambulances and emergency responders could help reduce the difficulties faced by patients who need to travel long distances for medical assistance.
Once completed, the Malabog facility will become the fifth Central 911 satellite station in Davao City. Existing stations are located in Baganihan, Toril, Indangan and Calinan, according to the latest report.
The CDRRMO plans to establish additional satellite stations in other parts of Davao City as it continues to expand emergency medical, rescue and disaster response services beyond the city center.
