MANILA, Philippines — Actress Glaiza de Castro is entering a new chapter in her life as she and her husband, Irish businessman David Rainey, prepare to welcome their first child.
The Kapuso star announced her pregnancy on Saturday, September 12, through Instagram, revealing that she is already three months pregnant.
Sharing the news with a pregnant-woman emoji, Glaiza wrote that she was “entering another chapter” and expressed relief after making it through her first trimester.
She also opened up about how challenging the early months of pregnancy had been, describing the experience with a mix of humor, gratitude and emotion.
The actress said she has been talking to other women and mothers for advice as she navigates pregnancy for the first time. Her message ended with a heartfelt tribute to mothers, whom she said have an extraordinary strength.
The announcement quickly drew congratulatory messages from Glaiza’s celebrity friends, including Angelica Panganiban, Mikael Daez, Rayver Cruz, Alessandra de Rossi, Nadine Samonte, Barbie Forteza, Megan Young, Jerald Napoles, Julie Anne San Jose, Jason Abalos, Carla Abellana and Diana Zubiri.
A long-awaited new chapter
Glaiza’s pregnancy comes after she and David had previously spoken publicly about their plans to have children.
In a July 30, 2026 interview with PEP.ph, Glaiza said she and David had been discussing starting a family but were not putting pressure on themselves to meet a particular timeline.
At the time, she said they wanted to make sure everything was in order and expressed the belief that having a child would happen at the right time.
That interview now takes on a more meaningful significance following her pregnancy announcement just weeks later.
The couple had already been open about wanting to build a family together.
In an earlier 2025 interview reported by Pilipino Star Ngayon, Glaiza said having a child was one of the personal projects she and David were working toward. She also explained that after spending more than two decades in show business, she wanted to give greater attention to her personal life.
From long-distance love to starting a family
Glaiza and David first married in Northern Ireland in October 2021 before celebrating another wedding ceremony in the Philippines in January 2023, according to Bombo Radyo’s report on the pregnancy announcement.
Their relationship has also been a recurring part of Glaiza’s public story. In 2021, GMA Entertainment profiled their relationship and described how the actress met David in Siargao before their romance developed into a long-term partnership.
At the time, Glaiza said that even after starting a family, she did not expect to completely abandon her career. Instead, she anticipated that motherhood would change her routine and priorities while her desire to work in acting and production remained.
Glaiza’s career is also entering an exciting period
The pregnancy announcement arrives during an important year professionally for the actress.
Glaiza recently celebrated another milestone involving “58th,” the animated documentary directed by Carl Joseph Papa. GMA Entertainment reported that the film was selected for the Documentary Showcase of the Wide Angle section of the 31st Busan International Film Festival, scheduled for October 6 to 15, 2026.
The film also carries special significance for Glaiza because it features the late veteran actor Ricky Davao, whom she regarded as a father figure in show business. In August, she became emotional while remembering their work together on the project.
Now, as she celebrates another major personal milestone, Glaiza is preparing for perhaps her most transformative role yet: becoming a mother.
For the actress, the journey appears to have arrived at the moment she and David had been waiting for.
And judging from her emotional first announcement, Glaiza is more than ready to embrace this next chapter.
