BLACKPINK star Jisoo is opening a new chapter in her solo career, promising a broader, more personal sound while revealing how acting has changed the way she approaches music and emotion.
SEOUL — Jisoo may have already built a successful solo catalog outside BLACKPINK, but the singer and actress is preparing for something she has never released before: her first full-length solo album.
The rollout officially moved into its next phase on September 4, when Jisoo released “CLICK,” the first pre-release single from the forthcoming album. Her agency BLISSOO described the track as the opening single leading into her debut full-length record.
That distinction is important. Some coverage has described the project simply as Jisoo’s “debut album,” which could give the impression that she is only now beginning her solo music career. She is not. Jisoo released the solo single album ME in 2023, followed by the four-track EP AMORTAGE in February 2025 and her Zayn collaboration “EYES CLOSED” later that year. The upcoming project is more accurately described as her debut full-length solo album.
‘CLICK’ is the doorway into a bigger Jisoo era
“CLICK” centers on the almost instinctive connection between two people who are drawn together before they can fully explain why. Yonhap reported that BLISSOO describes the track as capturing two people who unexpectedly but naturally “click.”
The song is accompanied by a cinematic music video directed by Joseph Kahn, whose credits include major productions for Taylor Swift and Eminem. The visual places Jisoo inside an eerie, abandoned amusement-park world, pairing romantic imagery with a more unusual, darker atmosphere than fans may associate with some of her earlier solo work.
The physical single album also arrived in photobook and NFC editions on September 4, while its vinyl edition is scheduled for November 30, according to Weverse.
But the bigger story is what comes after “CLICK.”
Jisoo wants the album to reveal more of who she is
In an interview published by Interview Magazine on September 10, Jisoo said the new project reflects how she has changed since her earlier music.
Rather than building the album around a single personality or mood, she indicated that different songs explore different versions of herself. Some material is confident and playful, while other songs move toward more emotional territory. She described the collection as showing sides of herself that even she is still discovering.
That concept appears to have been developing for months.
Back in May, while discussing the project with V Magazine, Jisoo confirmed that she was working on a full-length album and wanted to use the additional space to explore a wider musical range. Billboard Japan subsequently reported the same comments, noting that the record would be her first full-length solo release.
That makes “CLICK” less of a standalone comeback and more of an introduction to a larger artistic reset.
Her acting career is changing her music too
Jisoo’s expanding acting career also appears to be influencing the album.
She told Interview Magazine that acting has made her spend more time thinking about why characters behave the way they do and what lies beneath their emotions. That process, she said, has helped her become more comfortable letting feelings exist without immediately trying to define them — an approach she is now bringing into her music.
Her most prominent recent television project is Netflix’s Boyfriend on Demand, which premiered on March 6. Jisoo plays Seo Mi-rae, an exhausted webtoon producer who enters a virtual dating service filled with seemingly perfect romantic possibilities while navigating a much less predictable relationship in real life.
The experience may also be pushing her toward less expected acting choices. In the Interview conversation, Jisoo said she would like to take on roles audiences would not immediately associate with her, including potentially darker or frightening material.
That growing attraction to darker ideas could prove significant if the mood of the “CLICK” video is any indication of where her music is headed.
Jisoo enters the full-album era with more solo momentum
The upcoming album also arrives after measurable progress in Jisoo’s solo career.
Her 2025 EP AMORTAGE, led by “earthquake,” contained four tracks — “earthquake,” “Your Love,” “TEARS” and “Hugs & Kisses.” Yonhap reported that the EP reached No. 1 on iTunes Top Albums charts in 45 countries and regions.
Then came “EYES CLOSED,” her collaboration with Zayn. The song debuted at No. 72 on the Billboard Hot 100 in October 2025, marking Jisoo’s first solo entry on the chart. The achievement also meant that all four BLACKPINK members had scored individual Hot 100 entries.
“CLICK” now appears designed to carry that momentum into a much larger body of work.
The biggest mystery is still unresolved
Despite Jisoo speaking openly about the album’s direction and BLISSOO confirming “CLICK” as its first pre-release, the project’s most important details remain under wraps.
As of September 12, the sources reviewed for this report have not announced an official title, complete track list or final release date for the full-length album. BLISSOO’s current discography highlights “CLICK” as Jisoo’s latest release, while the agency has positioned it specifically as the first step toward the coming LP.
And that uncertainty may be deliberate.
Jisoo has made clear that she does not want to explain every part of her new artistic identity before listeners hear it for themselves. The album is being positioned not simply as a collection of new songs, but as a way for audiences to discover versions of Jisoo that have remained largely outside the public frame.
For an artist who has spent a decade performing on one of pop music’s biggest stages, the most intriguing part of her next era may be that she is still discovering some of those versions herself.
