A simple ₱25 lotto bet turned into a life-changing windfall for a woman from Cebu after the numbers she had been playing for years finally delivered a ₱20,899,725.81 jackpot in the PCSO Mega Lotto 6/45.
According to a report by GMA News, the woman hit the jackpot in the July 24, 2026 Mega Lotto 6/45 draw with the winning combination 14-20-19-31-02-11. She reportedly chose the numbers by combining the birthdays of people important to her.
What makes her story even more remarkable is that the combination was not a random pick she had just discovered. The winner said she had been playing the same numbers since her college days.
The winning ticket cost only ₱25, making the eventual prize more than 835,000 times the amount of the original wager.
From a Familiar Combination to a ₱20.8-Million Jackpot
The winning numbers—14, 20, 19, 31, 02 and 11—held personal meaning for the Cebuano winner because they were based on the birthdays of her loved ones.
After years of repeatedly betting on the same combination, her persistence finally paid off.
The Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) later confirmed the jackpot win, and the woman traveled to the agency’s main office in Mandaluyong with her husband to claim her prize, GMA News reported.
The exact jackpot was ₱20,899,725.81, rather than simply ₱20 million.
She Already Has Plans for the Money
Rather than immediately spending the unexpected fortune on luxury purchases, the winner reportedly plans to use part of the money to start a business and build a better future for her family.
That decision gives the unusual lotto story another practical twist: what began as a small, long-running bet could now become the foundation for a family business.
Why Did the Ticket Cost ₱25?
The ₱25 price is not an unusual amount for Mega Lotto 6/45 in 2026.
The PCSO increased the price of all jackpot-bearing lotto tickets from ₱20 to ₱25 beginning February 1, 2026. At the same time, the agency increased the minimum jackpots for its major lotto games.
For Mega Lotto 6/45, the minimum jackpot was raised from ₱9 million to ₱15 million. PCSO said the changes were intended to provide larger prizes while generating additional funds for its health, medical assistance and social welfare programs.
Mega Lotto Jackpot Has Continued to Move
The July 24 jackpot was part of a series of Mega Lotto 6/45 draws in which jackpots varied depending on whether a bettor matched all six numbers.
Available 2026 result records show that the Mega Lotto 6/45 jackpot returned to its ₱15-million minimum after the July 24 win, before later jackpot amounts increased again as draws passed without a jackpot winner. For example, the jackpot reached ₱19.51 million on August 19, while the August 24 draw carried a jackpot of about ₱25.69 million.
This reflects the PCSO’s progressive jackpot system: when there is no jackpot winner, the prize can continue to increase until someone matches all six winning numbers.
The Real Lesson Behind the Win
The Cebu woman’s story is certainly a remarkable example of persistence—but it is also a reminder that lotto draws remain games of chance.
Her decision to keep playing the same personally meaningful numbers for years eventually resulted in an extraordinary payout, but there is no strategy that can guarantee a jackpot.
In this case, however, a ₱25 ticket, six family-inspired numbers and years of persistence ultimately produced a prize worth nearly ₱21 million.
For the lucky Cebu winner, the numbers she had carried with her since college turned out to be more than just birthdays—they became the combination that changed her family’s financial future.
