MANILA, Philippines — Residents in several parts of Metro Manila and Cavite are being urged to prepare for scheduled water service interruptions from August 24 to 27, as water concessionaires carry out maintenance, repairs and diagnostic work across their distribution networks.
The interruptions will affect selected communities served by Maynilad Water Services and Manila Water, with some areas facing several hours without water and others scheduled for overnight or extended service disruptions. The works are intended to maintain facilities, address potential leaks and help reduce water losses, according to company advisories.

Selected areas in the east zone are also expected to experience temporary interruptions:
- Quezon City: UP Campus and Blue Ridge B — August 25–26
- Quezon City: Portions of San Roque and San Jose — August 26–27
- Taguig: Maharlika — August 25–26
- Marikina: Parang — August 25–26
The scheduled works are part of maintenance and repair activities aimed at restoring normal water supply more quickly and minimizing water losses.
Why are the interruptions happening?
This is not being described as a widespread water shortage. The service disruptions are scheduled operational interruptions connected to maintenance, repairs and diagnostic activities within the water distribution system.
Maynilad said the work forms part of its continuing efforts to improve water service in the West Zone. Its advisory also notes that affected customers should store enough water before the interruption and that water tankers are on standby for affected areas when needed. Once service returns, customers are advised to let water run briefly until it clears.
Residents urged to prepare before the taps run dry
For households in affected communities, the advice is simple: don’t wait until the interruption starts.
Residents should prepare enough water for drinking, cooking, hygiene and other essential needs, especially in areas facing longer scheduled outages. Businesses, condominium residents and households with elderly family members or young children may also want to check their building or barangay advisories for local contingency arrangements.
Because schedules and affected areas can change depending on operational conditions, customers are encouraged to monitor the latest official advisories from their water provider. Maynilad’s official maintenance notice says affected customers should store sufficient water for the duration of the interruption.
The bottom line
Several communities across Metro Manila and Cavite could temporarily lose water service between August 24 and 27. While the interruptions are scheduled and linked to maintenance and system improvement work, residents are advised to check their exact barangay and prepare water supplies in advance.
The biggest takeaway for households: check the schedule now—because by the time you turn on the faucet, it may already be too late to prepare.
