SINGAPORE — The Thai fashion brand behind one of Southeast Asia’s most recognisable canvas tote bags is officially making its Singapore retail debut.
Gentlewoman will open its first physical store in Singapore on Oct. 15, 2026, at 313@Somerset on Orchard Road, bringing its increasingly popular mix of everyday fashion, accessories and statement pieces to a permanent location in the city.
The Bangkok-born label has already built a strong following among Singapore shoppers despite not having a permanent local store. Its instantly recognisable “Gentlewoman” canvas tote has become a familiar sight across Singapore and other parts of Southeast Asia, helping turn the brand into a regional fashion phenomenon.
FROM VIRAL TOTE TO FULL FASHION BRAND
For many Singapore shoppers, Gentlewoman first became known through its canvas tote bags.
But the brand is considerably bigger than its viral accessory.
Founded in Bangkok in 2018 by Raya Wannapinyo, Siripa Rueangwutthisakulchai and Jitpon Siriwattanamathangkul, Gentlewoman has expanded from its original workwear focus into a broader women’s fashion label covering everyday clothing, activewear, swimwear and accessories.
Its rise has been driven in part by highly recognisable products, frequent fashion drops and a strong connection with younger, social-media-savvy consumers.
South China Morning Post described the label in February as one of Asia’s hottest fashion brands, highlighting how its signature tote became ubiquitous across the region.
WHY SINGAPORE?
The Singapore launch comes after years of the brand building a following among local shoppers.
Industry publication Inside Retail previously reported that Gentlewoman’s tote had become so popular in Singapore that an Instagram account was created to document sightings of the bags around the city.
Now, that online and street-level popularity is being converted into a permanent retail presence.
And the location is significant.
The new outlet will be at 313@Somerset, 313 Orchard Road, #03-18/21, placing Gentlewoman directly within one of Singapore’s most prominent shopping destinations.
MORE THAN JUST THE FAMOUS TOTE
Shoppers will not simply be walking into a tote-bag shop.
The Singapore store is expected to showcase several of Gentlewoman’s fashion collections, including Dormitory Darlings, a collaboration with Thai actress and style icon Chompoo Araya, as well as Theory Of The Wind, which incorporates lightweight fabrics and fluid silhouettes.
Another collection, Echoes Of Refinement, focuses on modern elegance and tailoring, giving Singapore shoppers a look at the broader aesthetic behind the brand rather than just its viral accessories.
GENTLEWOMAN WANTS MORE THAN ONE SINGAPORE STORE
The October opening may be only the beginning.
According to Gentlewoman’s statement reported by CNA, the company plans to further expand its footprint in Singapore following the launch of its first store.
Co-founder Raya Wannapinyo said the brand wants to grow beyond Thailand while maintaining an identity that can resonate across different cultures and communities.
That ambition places Singapore in an important position as Gentlewoman continues its regional expansion.
A BIG MOMENT FOR THAI FASHION
Gentlewoman’s Singapore debut also reflects the growing regional influence of Thai fashion labels.
Rather than relying solely on traditional luxury branding, the label has built recognition through accessible fashion, distinctive design, social-media visibility and highly shareable products.
Its signature tote became particularly effective as a form of organic marketing: every person carrying one effectively became a moving advertisement for the brand.
That combination of product recognition and community-driven popularity helped Gentlewoman move from a Bangkok fashion label into a name increasingly recognised across Asia.
