Singapore Airlines and Scoot Extend Middle East Flight Cancellations Into December

Singapore Airlines and its budget carrier Scoot have extended the cancellation of several flights to the Middle East, with services between Singapore and Dubai and Singapore and Jeddah now suspended into December amid continued geopolitical uncertainty in the region.

Singapore Airlines said its Singapore-Dubai services, SQ494 and SQ495, will remain cancelled until December 1. Scoot, meanwhile, has cancelled its three-times-weekly flights between Singapore and Jeddah, TR796 and TR797, until December 2.

The latest extension represents another delay to the restoration of the two routes. Singapore Airlines had previously cancelled its Dubai services through October 24, while Scoot had separately suspended its Jeddah operations as the security situation in the Middle East continued to evolve.

Both airlines cited the ongoing geopolitical situation in the Middle East as the reason for the cancellations. Singapore Airlines also warned that the fluid security environment could affect other flights, meaning passengers travelling through or near the region may face schedule changes or operational adjustments.

For passengers whose flights have been cancelled, Singapore Airlines and Scoot are offering a full refund for the unused portion of affected tickets. Travellers who made their bookings through travel agents or partner airlines have been advised to contact the company through which they purchased their tickets for assistance.

The continued disruption reflects the difficulty airlines face in restoring normal operations while security conditions remain unpredictable. Airlines have been closely monitoring developments affecting airspace, flight paths and fuel supplies, particularly around major aviation and shipping routes in the Gulf and surrounding areas.

The cancellations also come after months of disruption to Singapore’s air links with the Middle East. Singapore Airlines had previously suspended its Dubai service following the escalation of the conflict and subsequently extended the suspension several times as conditions changed. Scoot likewise suspended its Jeddah route before briefly resuming the service in June after an assessment of the security situation.

The Jeddah service had only recently returned when renewed tensions prompted another suspension. Scoot’s three-weekly Singapore-Jeddah operation was resumed on June 22 after an earlier interruption linked to the conflict, but the route was later cancelled again as the regional security situation deteriorated.

The wider aviation industry has also been affected. Other international carriers have continued to adjust or suspend services to destinations across the Middle East, with some airlines maintaining restrictions well into October or later depending on the destination and prevailing security assessments.

For Singapore travellers planning trips to Dubai, Jeddah or other destinations in the region, the latest changes mean that schedules should be checked carefully before departure. Airlines may also adjust flight routes or timings as conditions develop, even when a service itself has not been formally cancelled.

The latest suspension dates do not necessarily represent a permanent withdrawal from either market. Instead, the airlines’ schedules remain subject to further review as the regional situation develops. Singapore Airlines has indicated that it will continue monitoring conditions and make operational decisions based on the prevailing circumstances.

For now, passengers booked on SQ494, SQ495, TR796 or TR797 should expect the affected services to remain cancelled through the announced dates and should monitor their airline’s latest advisories for any further changes, rebooking arrangements or revised resumption plans.
