SAMUT SAKHON, Thailand — A major fire tore through a snack and beverage factory in Samut Sakhon on Monday morning, sending thick black smoke into the sky and triggering a massive emergency response as firefighters worked to prevent the blaze from spreading to nearby buildings and gas storage areas.
The fire broke out at a facility operated by Srinanaporn Marketing Plc in the Omyai area of Krathum Baen district. The company produces and distributes snack foods and beverages, and the affected site included production and storage areas containing machinery, raw materials and packaging.
Authorities received the first reports of the fire shortly before 7am, with flames and heavy smoke quickly becoming visible from a considerable distance. Firefighters from Samut Sakhon and neighbouring areas were mobilised to contain the blaze.

Images and videos from the scene showed thick plumes of black smoke rising above the industrial area as firefighters directed water at the burning sections of the factory.
