SINGAPORE — A 25-year-old man is set to be charged with murder after a 29-year-old man was found lying motionless on a road in Tuas South on Saturday night (Aug 29), in a case that has prompted ongoing police investigations.
Singapore Police Force officers were alerted to a call for assistance at about 10.10pm along Tuas South Street 15 towards Tuas South Avenue 14.
When officers arrived, they found the 29-year-old man lying motionless on the road. A paramedic from the Singapore Civil Defence Force subsequently pronounced him dead at the scene.
Police said the 25-year-old suspect was arrested within four hours of the report. Preliminary investigations found that the two men were known to each other.
The suspect is expected to be charged in court on Monday, Aug 31, with murder. Police investigations are ongoing, and authorities have not publicly disclosed further details about what led to the alleged incident.
The case unfolded in Tuas South, an industrial area in western Singapore. According to reports, the stretch of road where the incident occurred is surrounded largely by industrial premises, with a workers’ dormitory also located along Tuas South Street 15.
Under Singapore law, murder is a capital offence and carries the death penalty upon conviction.
As investigations continue, key questions surrounding the circumstances of the man’s death — including what happened before police were called and the nature of the alleged incident — have yet to be publicly revealed.
Authorities have not released the identities of either man, and no conclusions should be drawn about the circumstances of the case while investigations remain ongoing.
