Man Found Dead Under Bridge in Naga City, Cebu—What Happened Before His Body Was Discovered?

A 51-year-old cook was found dead beneath a bridge in Naga City, Cebu, early Monday morning, August 31, prompting authorities to investigate the circumstances surrounding his death.

The man was discovered in the area of Sitio Paradise, Barangay Pangdan, shortly after 6 a.m., according to reports from Cebu Daily News and SunStar Cebu.

Police and investigators responded to the scene and examined the area where the victim was found. Photos from the scene show police personnel and investigators working beneath the bridge while the victim’s body was kept blurred for sensitivity.

At this stage, the circumstances and cause of the man’s death should not be presumed. There has been no verified basis in the available reports to conclusively describe the incident as a homicide, accident, or suicide.

Authorities are expected to determine the cause of death through the investigation and appropriate examination of the remains.

The incident comes as Naga City police continue to handle a number of serious cases and investigations in the southern Cebu city. Recent reports include separate fatal road crashes in Naga, including an August 30 motorcycle collision in Barangay Tuyan that killed two men.

In another recent Naga City case, two seven-year-old boys who had been missing for three days were found dead inside an abandoned vehicle in Barangay Tuyan in May. Police initially said they saw no indication of foul play, although the victims’ families sought further examination of the remains.

For the bridge incident, however, those earlier cases are separate and should not be connected to the death of the 51-year-old cook without evidence.

Investigators will now have to establish what happened before the man’s body was discovered and whether there are witnesses, surveillance footage or other evidence that could clarify the circumstances.

As of the latest available reports, the investigation remains ongoing.
