Police arrested a 38-year-old man who was allegedly caught making homemade firearms during a late-night operation in Barangay Binaliw, Danao City, Cebu.
The operation was carried out at about 10:35 p.m. on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, in Purok 3, Upper Binaliw. Police identified the suspect as alias “Junior,” a married resident of the area.
Authorities said officers allegedly found the suspect in the process of making firearms. Police also said he failed to present any permit or document authorizing him to manufacture firearms.
Among the items recovered were a .38-caliber revolver, a 9mm upper slide, four metal frame patterns and several tools allegedly used in firearm fabrication.
Police also seized 15 assorted metal files, an L-square, a metal saw, four metal saw blades, two pairs of pliers, two metal hammers, a flat screwdriver, a bench vise and a lathe machine.
A 9mm magazine, an adjustable wrench and an open wrench were also recovered. Authorities additionally reported finding three live .357-caliber rounds and four live .45-caliber rounds.
The seized firearms, ammunition and equipment were brought to the Danao Police Station and will be treated as evidence in the case.
The suspect is set to face charges for alleged violations of Republic Act 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act of 2013.
The arrest highlights continued police efforts to detect unauthorized firearm manufacturing and possession, particularly as authorities monitor the circulation of unregistered weapons in communities.
The investigation will determine the extent of the alleged firearm-making operation and whether other individuals were involved.
