Lindsay Lohan and Henry Golding Reunite With Mean Girls Director for New Netflix Romance

Lindsay Lohan is returning to Netflix with a new romantic film, Return to You, where she will star opposite Henry Golding and also serve as a producer. The film will be directed by Mark Waters, reuniting Lohan with the filmmaker behind two of her best-known movies, Freaky Friday and Mean Girls.

Set in 2008, Return to You follows a powerful but lonely attorney whose life takes an unexpected turn after she mistakenly receives an emotional DVD from a dying woman addressed to her husband. With only the clues contained on the disc, she sets out to find the woman’s spouse, leading her into an unexpected journey involving love, loss and human connection.

Golding, best known for Crazy Rich Asians and other major film roles, will co-star alongside Lohan. Netflix has not yet announced the rest of the cast or a release date.

The project marks another collaboration between Lohan and Netflix following Falling for Christmas, Irish Wish and Our Little Secret. Her return to the platform comes as she continues taking on both acting and producing roles in new projects.

For Waters and Lohan, the film marks another reunion more than two decades after they first worked together. Waters directed Lohan in Freaky Friday in 2003 and Mean Girls in 2004, while his more recent Netflix films include He’s All That, Mother of the Bride and La Dolce Villa.

Return to You is written by Eric Champnella, with Brad Krevoy and Lohan producing. Olivia Krevoy, Jimmy Townsend and Galen Fletcher are executive producers. More casting details are expected as production moves forward.
