MANILA, Philippines — Jollibee has spent decades building one of the Philippines’ most recognizable fast-food brands. Now, its next battleground is increasingly inside the smartphone.
Jollibee Philippines was named Brand of the Year at the NEXT Awards Philippines 2026, after collecting eight trophies and 21 points across categories ranging from gamification and marketing technology to influencer campaigns, public relations and omnichannel marketing. The recognition puts a spotlight on a strategy that goes well beyond conventional advertising: Jollibee is increasingly using its app, customer data, games, creators and real-world experiences as parts of one connected marketing ecosystem.
The company collected five Gold and three Silver awards, with winning programs including the Jollibee Joy Run, Generation Joy Cycle 2, Bida Best, Bida Pinoy, the Jollibee Museum of Pride, and initiatives built around its mobile app and customer lifecycle strategy.
But the awards themselves may be less important than what they reveal about where Jollibee believes future growth will come from.
From ordering app to customer ecosystem
Jollibee relaunched its delivery app in 2025, positioning it not simply as another way to order Chickenjoy or Jolly Spaghetti, but as a platform capable of generating repeat interaction with customers.
The upgraded app offered exclusive promotions and streamlined ordering, while Jollibee promoted it as a direct digital channel with competitive pricing and app-only deals. It also introduced Joy Run, an in-app game that turned customer engagement into rewards redeemable for actual food purchases.
That distinction matters.
Instead of relying solely on advertising to persuade consumers to place an order, Jollibee can use its own digital platform to bring customers back repeatedly—whether to order, claim a promotion, play a game or interact with a personalized offer.
A case study published by The Drum said Joy Run was created partly to solve the challenge of moving users from Jollibee’s legacy app to its new platform while maintaining engagement. Running from August 11 to November 6, 2025, the game allowed users to earn points and unlock delivery vouchers through gameplay.
That strategy has since received recognition beyond the NEXT Awards. Manila Bulletin reported in August that the Jollibee App won Gold for Excellence in Omnichannel Marketing at the 2026 Marketing Excellence Awards, while Joy Run received Gold for Excellence in Mobile Marketing. The app also received awards for e-commerce, launch and performance marketing.
Jollibee is moving from campaigns to customer journeys
Another significant part of the strategy involves customer relationship management, or CRM.
At the NEXT Awards, Jollibee won Gold for its marketing technology program described as “From Campaigns to Continuity: A Lifecycle Experience Engine,” developed with Merkle Singapore and technology partner Braze. It also received Silver in omnichannel marketing for a related lifecycle-journey initiative.
The language is revealing.
Traditional restaurant marketing often revolves around individual launches—a new burger, limited-time meal, celebrity endorser or holiday promotion. Lifecycle marketing instead attempts to understand where consumers are in their relationship with a brand and communicate with them differently based on behavior and previous interactions.
For Jollibee, that potentially turns its app into much more than a digital cash register. It becomes a direct relationship channel.
Creators and culture remain part of the formula
Technology has not displaced Jollibee’s long-established focus on Filipino culture and emotional storytelling.
The company also won Gold for Generation Joy Cycle 2, its always-on creator ecosystem, while Bida Best, Bida Pinoy won Gold for public relations. Jollibee’s Museum of Pride, centered on Filipino achievement and national identity, took Gold in event marketing.
Earlier in 2026, Jollibee’s Bida Best, Bida Pinoy campaign also captured the Grand Anvil, while Jollibee Group was named Company of the Year at the 61st Anvil Awards. The campaign combined social media, influencer engagement and storytelling around Filipino excellence.
The emerging playbook is therefore not “digital instead of traditional.”
It is digital infrastructure combined with creators, culture, public relations, physical experiences and commerce.
The stakes are getting bigger
The digital push comes as parent Jollibee Foods Corp. becomes a much larger international restaurant group.
JFC reported ₱455.1 billion in system-wide sales for 2025, with consolidated revenue of ₱305.1 billion and net income attributable to shareholders of ₱10.9 billion.
Momentum continued into 2026. In the second quarter, system-wide sales increased 14.2% year on year, while international system-wide sales jumped 25.4%. The group operated 10,767 stores across 33 countries, with roughly 70% franchised.
Jollibee is also preparing for another major corporate step. Reuters reported on September 1, 2026, that the company plans to spin off and list its international operations in Hong Kong, changing an earlier plan that contemplated a U.S. listing.
That makes the Philippine digital strategy more than an advertising experiment.
If Jollibee can prove that apps, first-party customer relationships, gamification and personalized engagement can consistently increase frequency and loyalty, those lessons could become increasingly valuable across a restaurant group operating thousands of stores and multiple brands worldwide.
For years, Jollibee’s competitive advantage was built around products, emotional advertising and an unusually powerful connection with Filipino consumers.
Its next advantage may be learning how to turn that emotional connection into a digital relationship that continues long after the customer finishes a meal.
