ILOILO, Philippines — Looking for a job, government assistance or free health-related services? September could bring a series of opportunities for Ilonggos as the Iloilo Provincial Government rolls out a month-long lineup of activities for the 126th Philippine Civil Service Anniversary.
The celebration goes beyond activities for government workers, with programs designed to reach the wider public—including job fairs, health and wellness campaigns, animal health services and government assistance desks.
The local observance is part of the nationwide Civil Service Month celebration led by the Civil Service Commission (CSC), which this year carries the theme: “Bawat Kawani, Lingkod Bayani: Puso, Dangal, at Galing Para sa Bayan.”
Job Opportunities Take Center Stage
For job seekers, September 8 will be one of the key dates to watch.
Two employment activities are scheduled: the Fiesta Job Fair in Guimbal and the “Lingkod Bayani on the Go: Government Express 2026 CSC Job Fair” at SM City Iloilo.
The job fairs come as the CSC expands efforts to make government employment opportunities more accessible. Earlier this year, the CSC and the Department of Labor and Employment formalized a partnership aimed at expanding public-sector job fairs nationwide and connecting prospective applicants with participating government agencies.
Health, Wellness and Community Services Also Lined Up
The September program will also feature a range of health and social awareness activities.
An HIV awareness activity is scheduled for September 14 at Casa Real de Iloilo, followed by a discussion on the Violence Against Women and Their Children Act and the Safe Spaces Act at the Capitol lobby on September 15.
A Diabetes Screening and Wellness Campaign will run from September 15 to 16, while a Drug-Free and Smoke-Free Capitol advocacy activity is scheduled for September 18.
Pet owners will also have activities to look forward to. The Office of the Provincial Veterinarian is set to conduct a provincewide neutering and spaying program from September 1 to 8, followed by pet consultations, deworming, vaccinations and vitamin supplementation from September 14 to 18.
Government Help Desks to Bring Agencies Closer to the Public
One of the major public-service highlights will take place on September 29, when a Government Agencies Services Help Desk is set up at the Capitol lobby.
The help desk will include agencies such as the Government Service Insurance System (GSIS), Philippine Health Insurance Corp. (PhilHealth), and Pag-IBIG Fund, bringing several government services closer to the public in one location.
The local lineup also includes the CSC Lingkod Bayani Run 2026 on September 13, sports activities, training programs, a public sector forum and other employee-focused events.
Part of a Nationwide Tribute to Filipino Public Servants
Iloilo’s celebration is part of the broader 126th Philippine Civil Service Anniversary, a nationwide observance honoring more than two million public servants.
According to the Philippine Information Agency, the month-long national program includes wellness and recognition activities, a nationwide fun run, job fairs and frontline government services under the Trabaho at Serbisyo Hatid sa Bayan 2026 initiative.
The Philippine Civil Service traces its establishment to September 19, 1900, while September was formally designated as Civil Service Month under Presidential Proclamation No. 1050, Series of 1997.
For Iloilo residents, however, this year’s observance is shaping up to be more than a celebration of government service.
It is also a month-long push to bring jobs, health services, information and government assistance closer to the people—and September’s calendar may offer more than a few reasons for Ilonggos to step out and take part.
The Iloilo Provincial Government’s Civil Service Month activities will culminate on September 30 with the CSC Pasidungog, according to the published local schedule.
