GRENVILLE, SOUTH CAROLINA — Hollywood is mourning the sudden death of Hayden Panettiere, the former child star who became internationally known through Heroes, Nashville and the Scream franchise.
Panettiere died on Sunday, August 16, 2026, at just 36 years old, her representative and family confirmed.
Her death has stunned fans who watched her grow from a child performer into one of television’s most recognizable stars.

According to reports citing authorities in Greenville, South Carolina, emergency responders were dispatched after an acquaintance called for help.

The Greenville County Coroner’s Office subsequently conducted an autopsy.
