The luxury car controversy surrounding actor Derek Ramsay has escalated after the Bureau of Customs (BOC) announced plans to seize and auction the Porsche 918 Spyder linked to him, following allegations that the vehicle’s importation documents contained discrepancies.
The high-performance supercar, one of the rarest Porsche models in the world, became the center of a government investigation after authorities raised concerns over possible misdeclaration of vehicle details and unpaid government duties and taxes.
According to the BOC, it is preparing to issue a warrant of seizure and detention for the vehicle as part of its enforcement action. If the government’s case is sustained, the sports car could eventually be subjected to forfeiture proceedings and public auction under customs regulations.
Why Did Customs Flag Derek Ramsay’s Supercar?
The controversy began after authorities examined the Porsche 918 Spyder’s registration and importation history. The BOC said the vehicle was flagged due to alleged inconsistencies involving its declaration and compliance with import requirements.
The case also follows an earlier action by the Land Transportation Office (LTO), which impounded the vehicle over allegations involving an unauthorized license plate. Reports said the vehicle was spotted using a plate that authorities claimed was not officially assigned to the Porsche.
The LTO investigation reportedly led to the vehicle being surrendered while officials reviewed ownership and registration concerns.

Ramsay has denied any wrongdoing and rejected accusations that he was involved in illegal importation.
The actor reportedly maintained that he purchased the Porsche through a legitimate transaction and that he believed the vehicle had already been properly processed and tax-paid before he acquired it.
Ramsay also clarified that he was not the person who imported the vehicle into the Philippines, saying his purchase was made from another party.
The actor emphasized that he had no intention of violating customs laws and that he relied on the documents provided during the transaction.
What Happens If Customs Wins the Case?
If the BOC proves that the Porsche was brought into the country using false declarations or without proper payment of duties and taxes, authorities may proceed with forfeiture.
Under customs enforcement rules, seized vehicles may eventually be auctioned after completing the required legal process.
However, Ramsay’s legal team may challenge the government’s action and present evidence showing that the vehicle was legally acquired.
