Thai authorities have arrested a Chinese woman who was wanted by authorities in China over allegations of procuring women for prostitution.
The woman, identified as Ms Wang, was reportedly sought by Chinese authorities in connection with the case. Thai officials detained her after receiving information concerning her presence in Thailand.
According to authorities, the case is being handled by officials in Nanning, China, where she is wanted in connection with the alleged offences.
The arrest is part of cooperation between Thai and Chinese authorities in tracking individuals wanted in China who are believed to have entered Thailand.
Officials are expected to coordinate with their Chinese counterparts regarding the next steps in the case, including procedures related to her legal status and any possible transfer to China.
Authorities have not indicated that the woman has been convicted of the alleged offences in China. The accusations remain subject to the relevant legal proceedings.
The case highlights continued cooperation between Thailand and China in dealing with people wanted for alleged criminal offences who cross international borders.
