Two graduates from Cebu-based universities have earned national recognition in the October 2026 electronics licensure examinations, with one securing the highest rank in the Electronics Engineers Licensure Examination (EELE) and another placing among the leading examinees in the Electronics Technician Licensure Examination (ETLE).
According to results reported by GMA News and compiled by PRCStats, Rohan Ardiente of Cebu Institute of Technology–University (CIT-U) ranked first in the electronics engineers examination with a rating of 95.80 percent. Meanwhile, Christian Marturillas Bagundol of Cebu Technological University (CTU)–Main placed second in the electronics technician examination with a rating of 96 percent.
The achievements highlight Cebu’s continuing contribution to the country’s engineering and technology workforce.
Cebu graduate leads the electronics engineers examination
Ardiente emerged as the topnotcher in the October 2026 EELE, outperforming thousands of examinees who took the national licensure test administered by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC).
The national rankings placed Peterson Bunag Torio of Bulacan State University–Malolos second with 95.20 percent, followed by Justin Centeno Tria of the University of the Philippines Diliman with 94.90 percent.
The results underscore the demanding nature of the licensure examination, which assesses the technical knowledge and professional competence of aspiring electronics engineers.
CTU graduate earns second place in the technician board exam
Cebu also secured a top finish in the Electronics Technician Licensure Examination through Bagundol of CTU–Main, who obtained a rating of 96 percent.
Hasnor Pithailan Hadji Noor of Bulacan State University–Malolos topped the ETLE with 98 percent. Several examinees, including Bagundol, tied for second place with identical ratings of 96 percent.
The dual achievement places graduates from two Cebu institutions among the standout performers in separate examinations administered by the PRC.
Thousands took the October 2026 examinations
The national results show a significant difference in the passing rates of the two examinations.
According to the published results, 1,106 of 2,337 examinees passed the Electronics Engineers Licensure Examination, equivalent to a passing rate of 47.33 percent.
For the Electronics Technician Licensure Examination, 1,804 of 2,057 examinees passed, representing an 87.70 percent passing rate.
The EELE was conducted on October 17 and 18, while the ETLE took place on October 19. The PRC released the results on October 23, 2026.
The figures show that fewer than half of the electronics engineering examinees passed, while nearly nine out of every 10 electronics technician examinees successfully cleared their examination.
Why the results matter
Electronics engineers and technicians contribute to industries involving telecommunications, electronics manufacturing, automation, information technology infrastructure and other technology-driven sectors.
For the successful examinees, passing the licensure examinations marks an important professional milestone. For Cebu’s universities, national topnotchers offer a visible example of the region’s role in preparing graduates for specialized technical careers.
The achievements of Ardiente and Bagundol also give aspiring engineering students a reason to celebrate Cebu’s presence in the national board examination rankings.
As new passers move toward professional registration and the next stage of their careers, their results serve as a reminder of the preparation and technical knowledge demanded by the engineering profession.
