BANGKOK — One of Bangkok’s most recognizable green spaces is getting a fresh boost as the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) and Deloitte Thailand complete a series of improvements at Lumphini Park, focusing on accessibility, safety, connectivity and the quality of its public spaces.
The project includes the restoration of a pedestrian bridge, upgraded lighting, refreshed landscaping and improved seating areas, giving visitors easier access between key parts of the park while creating more welcoming spaces for exercise, recreation and relaxation.
A More Connected Lumphini Park
At the heart of the project is the restored pedestrian bridge, designed to make movement through the park more convenient and improve access to facilities and amenities.
The improvements form part of Bangkok’s broader 2026 development objectives, which include preserving and enhancing the city’s green spaces for residents and visitors.
The project also focuses on making the park a more comfortable environment, with upgraded lighting, landscaping improvements and additional seating helping create spaces where people can exercise, socialize or simply spend time surrounded by nature.
From Infrastructure to Everyday City Life
The upgrades come as Bangkok continues to look at ways of making public spaces more accessible and connected.
The city’s wider green-infrastructure efforts include improvements to pedestrian and cycling connections. Earlier this year, the BMA announced upgrades to the 1.6-kilometer Green Bridge linking Lumphini and Benjakitti parks, including accessibility improvements, better lighting and CCTV, activity areas and structural renewal.
Together, projects such as these reflect a broader push to make green spaces part of Bangkok’s everyday transportation, recreation and community life.
A Green Landmark Gets a New Symbol
To mark the completion of the Lumphini Park project, Deloitte installed its 10-meter-wide Green Dot sphere in the middle of the park’s lake.
The temporary installation is intended to symbolize the company’s contribution to the park and its wider sustainability efforts.
The project also coincided with Deloitte’s Southeast Asia Partner Conference in Bangkok, bringing more than 400 Deloitte partners, employees and BMA representatives to the park for a fun run.
Why Lumphini Park Matters
Lumphini Park is one of Bangkok’s best-known public spaces and plays an important role in providing residents with access to greenery in the middle of the capital.
The latest improvements are therefore about more than simply repairing a bridge or refreshing landscaping. They form part of a broader effort to make public spaces safer, easier to navigate and more useful to a wider range of people.
Bangkok’s own Greener Bangkok platform is also expanding initiatives focused on parks, trees, climate action, air quality and sustainable urban living.
