SINGAPORE — Homegrown pie brand Elijah Pies is opening its largest and newest flagship outlet in Joo Chiat, bringing new soufflé pies, savoury pizza-inspired creations and a pet-friendly space to the neighbourhood.
The new outlet, located at 72 Joo Chiat Place, is set inside a restored 1930s Peranakan shophouse and will officially open on Sept 12, 2026.
The 60-seat cafe marks the brand’s third physical location, following its Tanjong Pagar cafe and Lavender baking studio.
A larger home for Elijah Pies
Founded 12 years ago by married couple Elijah Tan and Limin Wong as a home-based business, Elijah Pies built a following through its visually distinctive and handcrafted pies.
The founders chose Joo Chiat after noticing that many of their customers lived in Singapore’s eastern neighbourhoods.
After a lengthy search, they found a heritage shophouse that offered enough space to create their largest dine-in location yet. The new outlet includes a private dining room, a large communal table and an outdoor area designed to welcome pets.
Peranakan-inspired design
The flagship combines Elijah Pies’ contemporary visual identity with elements inspired by Joo Chiat’s heritage.
The interior was designed with architectural firm Nice Projects and features details including hand-placed Italian travertine tiles and tabletops incorporating Brazilian crystal.
A 10-seat dining table with a Lazy Susan was also added to accommodate larger families and groups.
The cafe’s private room provides another option for more intimate gatherings.
New soufflé pie takes centre stage
The Joo Chiat outlet will introduce Elijah’s Soufflé Pie, a flagship dine-in special made to order and served warm.
The dessert combines a chocolate and gianduja soufflé with almond joconde and hazelnut praline, finished with a decorative chocolate element.
The brand is also introducing a Kaya Toffee Pie, inspired by the flavours associated with its new Peranakan neighbourhood.
The pie combines housemade kaya, gula melaka toffee and coconut.
Pizza pies bring a savoury twist
Elijah Pies is also expanding its savoury selection with a new Pizza Pie series inspired by Chicago deep-dish pizza.
The pies use a hand-laminated croissant-style crust made with multiple layers of butter and dough.
New flavours include:
- Garlic Ebi
- Truffle Croque
- Cheeseburger
- Ruffles
The new creations were developed specifically as part of the flagship’s expanded menu.
A cafe designed for families
The founders also wanted the new space to be welcoming for families with young children.
Children visiting the cafe can receive complimentary babyccinos and housemade cheese crisps.
The larger dining space is intended to make it easier for bigger families and groups to enjoy meals together.
Dogs are welcome too
Pets have also been considered in the design of the new outlet.
The outdoor area includes a pet service corner where owners can get water for their dogs.
Dog visitors will receive a complimentary cookie, while specially made dog-friendly treats and pies are also part of the wider offering.
The pet-friendly concept was inspired in part by the large number of dog owners frequently seen walking around the Joo Chiat neighbourhood.
From home business to flagship cafe
Elijah Pies began as a small home-based venture before gradually expanding into a recognised Singapore dessert brand.
The company’s growth reflects the increasing number of food businesses that have built strong followings through social media before moving into permanent retail spaces.
Its new Joo Chiat location represents its biggest step yet, giving the brand a larger platform to experiment with new menu concepts while retaining the pies that helped build its reputation.
The bottom line
Elijah Pies is bringing its biggest outlet yet to Joo Chiat, combining handcrafted pies, new savoury creations and a family- and pet-friendly dining experience inside a restored heritage shophouse.
The 60-seat flagship will feature exclusive menu items including a made-to-order soufflé pie, Kaya Toffee Pie and Chicago-inspired Pizza Pies.
With private dining, a large communal table and an outdoor space for pets, the new outlet represents a major expansion for the homegrown brand.
Elijah Pies Joo Chiat opens on Sept 12 at 72 Joo Chiat Place, Singapore.
