F4 star Vanness Wu has stepped forward to defend his new wife, Japanese singer-actress Emi Aramaki, after online allegations questioned both her age and educational background — but the controversy may have begun with an inaccurate age that was repeatedly published by the media.
Wu’s camp, through his record label B’in Music, rejected claims that Aramaki had lied about her age or fabricated her academic credentials.
According to the statement, Aramaki is 31 years old, not 35, and graduated from University College London (UCL). Wu’s side said the relevant information could be verified and called for an end to the speculation.
The clarification came after Taiwanese outlet Next Apple News reportedly received a tip questioning details that had circulated publicly about Aramaki.
The tipster claimed she had been presented as a 35-year-old UCL graduate but alleged that people described as alumni could not find records connected to her. Questions were also raised after a photograph purportedly showing Aramaki attending a high-school prom in 2013 circulated online.
If she were 35 in 2026, she would have been around 22 at the time of that prom — an apparent timeline inconsistency that helped fuel the online speculation.
But there is an important distinction: the allegations themselves have not been independently proven.
Wu’s statement says the 35-year-old figure was incorrect and that Aramaki is actually 31. Even 8days, which originally reported the controversy and whose report was subsequently carried by CNA, acknowledged that it had previously described Aramaki as 35 based on information available at the time.
Aramaki’s Agency Had Listed Her UCL Background Before the Controversy
There is another detail that complicates claims that Aramaki suddenly invented her academic history after marrying Wu.
Her existing profile on Japanese entertainment company Hillstone Enterprise states that she studied History at University College London and began her artistic career after graduating, dividing her time among Tokyo, London and Los Angeles.
A Hillstone press release issued in September 2024 — nearly two years before the current controversy — also described Aramaki as having studied History at UCL before beginning her career as an artist.
That same background was subsequently reported by outlets including GMA News, Mothership and AsiaOne when Aramaki emerged publicly as Wu’s wife in June 2026.
Those records provide additional support for the claim that UCL has long been part of Aramaki’s professional biography, rather than a credential introduced only after the latest allegations.
However, the publicly available sources reviewed for this report do not include a direct statement from University College London confirming Aramaki’s graduation. That means the safest conclusion is that Wu and Aramaki’s professional representatives consistently identify her as a UCL History graduate, while the university itself has not publicly entered the dispute.
Who Is Emi Aramaki?
Aramaki was born in Fukuoka, Japan, and moved to the United Kingdom when she was nine, according to her professional biography.
She began playing piano as a child and later developed a music career influenced by J-pop, soul and jazz. She released the city-pop-influenced single “Lonely Night” in 2021, followed by other releases including “Night Ride” and “Purple Dream.”
Her career has expanded beyond music into acting and modeling. Her professional profiles list acting training in the United Kingdom and credits that include FBI: International.
Aramaki returned to Japan as she expanded her Japanese music activities, with “Purple Dream” released in September 2024 as part of that push.

Wu shocked longtime F4 fans on June 29, 2026, when he revealed that he had married without initially naming his bride.
