SAN RAFAEL, BULACAN — The Philippine National Police (PNP) has completed its investigation into the deaths of a mother and her two young children who were found inside a vehicle in San Rafael, Bulacan—but authorities are withholding further details after the victims’ family appealed for privacy during their time of grief.
PNP public information chief Col. Allen Rae Co said the results of the investigation have already been submitted to PNP chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. Police officials also reached out to the family and shared an initial report on the findings.
However, the PNP said it would respect the family’s request not to publicly disclose further details at this stage.
The three victims—a 31-year-old mother and her children, aged 9 and 4—were discovered on August 20 inside their family vehicle in Barangay Talacsan, San Rafael. Police earlier confirmed that all three had sustained gunshot wounds.
The Last Known Hours
Earlier reports showed that the mother and her children had visited relatives in Angat, Bulacan, before beginning their final journey. Investigators traced parts of their movements and reviewed available evidence, including footage from the vehicle’s dashcam.
According to the latest account reported by SunStar, the mother and her children traveled to San Rafael after visiting her parents and later continued their trip. Police said an initial review of the dashcam footage did not show another person entering the vehicle before the victims were found. A 9mm firearm registered to the mother was also recovered at the scene, along with fired cartridge cases and a slug.
Earlier in the investigation, authorities said they were pursuing leads and examining forensic evidence while refusing to rule out possible angles before the investigation was complete. Police had also sought to examine digital evidence that could help establish what happened before the family’s deaths.
Investigation Complete, But Questions Remain
The completion of the police investigation marks a major development in a case that has shocked communities across Bulacan and drawn widespread attention online.
Still, the public may not immediately learn the full findings.
The PNP’s decision to withhold additional information follows the family’s direct request for privacy—a reminder that behind a widely discussed case are grieving relatives dealing with an unimaginable loss.
For now, authorities have confirmed that their investigation has been completed and submitted to the PNP leadership. Whether additional official details will eventually be released remains unclear.
