MANILA, Philippines — TJ Monterde and KZ Tandingan are taking another major step in their life together—and this time, it involves the home they have long dreamed of building.
The OPM singer-songwriter recently shared that he has bought a piece of land in the location he and his wife have always wanted for their future home.
For TJ, however, the property is more than a real-estate milestone. It represents how far he has come after a difficult period in his career and finances.
In a recent post and in a previous appearance on Kara David’s “i-Listen” podcast, TJ reflected on the uncertainty he experienced several years ago, when he questioned whether his singing career would continue to progress.
He recalled reaching a point where he would ask God whether his career had already reached its limit.
Now, three years after those difficult moments, TJ said he could hardly believe that he was finally standing on the land where he and KZ hope to build their dream home.
“I never imagined that I would be able to buy that piece of land in our dream location, and that we would build our dream home there,” TJ shared.
He also said he had promised KZ that he would be the one to build their dream home.
The emotional milestone comes after the couple had previously spoken openly about the financial challenges they experienced during the early years of their marriage.
From Paying the Bills to Building a Dream
TJ previously revealed that there was a period when his career was struggling and his financial contribution to their household was limited.
In an earlier interview, he recalled feeling insecure because KZ was able to shoulder more of their household expenses at the time. He said his contribution sometimes amounted to paying their electricity and water bills.
KZ, however, never made him feel inadequate, TJ said.
Instead, she continued to believe in him and reassured him that better days would eventually come.
By 2026, the couple’s situation had changed significantly.
In an interview with The Philippine Star earlier this year, TJ recalled how they had moved from simply trying to cover household expenses to saving for their dream home. He also credited KZ’s trust and support during the difficult period of his career.
The purchase of the lot now marks another milestone in that journey.
TJ Credits God for the Turnaround
In his latest update, TJ described the development as a testament to his faith.
He encouraged his followers not to put limits on what they believe is possible for their lives, reflecting on how quickly circumstances can change when the right opportunity arrives.
His message centered on one recurring theme in his story: timing.
For TJ, what once seemed impossible—owning land in their preferred location and eventually building a home for KZ—is now becoming a reality.
He also referred to the future property as the “future Monterde residence.”
The couple celebrated the milestone together, with TJ and KZ sharing an emotional moment at the property.
A Dream Built After Years of Partnership
TJ and KZ’s love story has also been closely intertwined with their music careers.
The couple got engaged in 2019 and married in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic. Their relationship later became an inspiration for TJ’s music, including their popular song “Palagi.”
In 2026, the pair also celebrated major career milestones together. Earlier this year, they held their “In Between” concert run at the Smart Araneta Coliseum, with The Philippine Star reporting that the four-night run was sold out.
Their story has therefore come full circle in many ways—from two artists working through uncertainty to an established OPM couple now preparing to build a home of their own.
And for TJ, the most meaningful part may not simply be owning the land.
It is finally being able to fulfill a promise he made to the woman who stood by him when he was still trying to find his way.
The lot may only be the beginning. The dream home—and the next chapter of the Monterdes’ story—is still to come.
