A 55-year-old worker was injured after he was allegedly stabbed several times by a resident following a dispute over a fenced pathway in Barangay Estaca, Compostela, Cebu.
The incident happened at around 9:45 p.m. on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, in Sitio Binabag. The victim, identified by the alias “Ronron,” was reportedly hired by a woman identified as Andrea to build a fence around her property.
The newly constructed fence allegedly blocked a pathway on the eastern side of the area, preventing some residents from using the route to reach their homes. This reportedly angered a 42-year-old man identified by the alias “Renante.”
The dispute had already reached the barangay before the stabbing, with the two sides reportedly meeting to discuss the disagreement over the passageway.
At around 8 p.m. that evening, Ronron was reportedly walking home when Renante allegedly approached him while carrying a knife. Police said the suspect stabbed the victim several times in different parts of his body.
Neighbors who witnessed the incident reportedly intervened, prompting the suspect to flee. Renante was later arrested by authorities, while Ronron was taken to a hospital for treatment of his injuries.
Police from the Compostela Police Station are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the confrontation, including the dispute over the fenced pathway and the events that led to the alleged attack.
The incident highlights how a dispute over access to a residential pathway escalated into a violent confrontation, with authorities now determining the appropriate charges based on the evidence gathered.
