MANILA, Philippines — Residents in parts of Bulacan, Cavite and Rizal are being advised to prepare for scheduled power interruptions this week as the Manila Electric Company (Meralco) carries out maintenance, facility upgrades and line works.
The interruptions, scheduled between September 9 and September 12, will affect selected communities in Malolos and Meycauayan in Bulacan, several areas in Cavite, and parts of Antipolo City in Rizal.
Meralco said planned outages are necessary to allow crews to conduct maintenance, replace and relocate electrical facilities, reconstruct lines and install additional equipment. The utility says customers affected by planned interruptions are generally advised ahead of time.
BULACAN: Malolos and Meycauayan Areas Affected
In Malolos City, selected areas in Barangays Masile, Namayan, Caliligawan and Pamarawan are scheduled to experience a power interruption on:
September 11
10:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
The interruption is linked to the replacement of an electricity pole, relocation of electrical facilities and line reconstruction work.
Meanwhile, customers in parts of Barangays Iba and Malhacan in Meycauayan City are also scheduled for an outage on:
September 11
12:00 midnight to 5:00 a.m.
Meralco is scheduled to replace facilities and conduct line reconductoring work along Iba Road and Malhacan-Libtong Road.
CAVITE: Dasmariñas, Tanza, Imus and General Trias
Several communities in Cavite are also included in the maintenance schedule.
Dasmariñas City
Some locations near and inside Greenwoods Subdivision in Barangay Sampaloc III are scheduled to lose power on:
September 10
10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
The interruption is due to the installation of additional electrical facilities.
Tanza
Residents of Retirees Village Phase 2, including Holy Nazarene Christian School along Tanza-Trece Martires Road in Barangay Mulawin, are scheduled for an interruption on:
September 11
10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Meralco said crews will replace electricity poles in the area.
Imus and General Trias
Selected areas in Barangays Alapan II-A and Alapan II-B in Imus City, as well as portions of Barangay Navarro in General Trias City, are scheduled to experience an overnight interruption from:
September 11 to September 12
11:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m.
The work involves the relocation of electrical facilities.
RIZAL: Antipolo Areas to Lose Power
In Antipolo City, selected sections of Barangays Bagong Nayon, Mayamot and Sta. Cruz are scheduled for a power interruption from:
September 9 to September 10
11:30 p.m. to 4:30 a.m.
The scheduled outage is connected to the replacement of electrical facilities along Marcos Highway.
Planned Outage Is Different From an Emergency Brownout
Meralco says a planned brownout or power interruption may be required to allow maintenance work, equipment upgrades, facility relocation, construction or system expansion.
This is different from an unplanned outage, which can result from emergencies, severe weather, equipment failure, generation deficiencies or other unexpected events.
Customers can check whether an interruption is affecting their address through Meralco’s outage tools and view future outages. Meralco also allows customers to report outages online or through its mobile services.

Residents and businesses in affected areas may want to:
- Charge mobile phones and power banks in advance.
- Prepare backup lighting.
