Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has warned Premier League rivals that his champions may still have another level to reach after the Gunners produced a stirring comeback to beat Chelsea 2-1 in a pulsating London derby.
Chelsea stunned the Emirates Stadium when Morgan Rogers fired the visitors ahead after just 77 seconds, but Arsenal refused to panic.
Instead, the champions responded with the kind of conviction that could send an early warning through the Premier League title race.
Kai Havertz equalised in the first half before captain Martin Ødegaard completed the comeback shortly after the break, sealing Arsenal’s third consecutive league victory and preserving their perfect start to the new campaign.
But it was Arteta’s message after the final whistle that could prove even more significant.
The Arsenal boss believes his side is capable of surpassing the level that carried them to last season’s title.
“I think it’s an indication for us of how capable we are to perform at an even higher level than last season,” Arteta said after the victory.
He stressed, however, that Arsenal’s potential will depend on whether the squad can maintain its hunger, humility and relentless desire to improve throughout the campaign.

The match could hardly have started worse for Arsenal.
Rogers struck inside two minutes to give Chelsea a dream start and hand Arsenal an early test of their composure.
Yet rather than allowing the setback to derail them, Arteta’s side responded with increasing intensity.
Arsenal levelled through former Chelsea forward Havertz in the 25th minute before Ødegaard struck the winner in the 50th, capping a comeback that underlined both the attacking quality and resilience of the defending champions.
Arteta described the display as exceptional, praising his players’ reaction to adversity and the conviction they showed throughout the contest.
“It was an exceptional performance,” he said, highlighting the team’s determination, quality and ability to respond after Chelsea’s lightning-fast opener.
Havertz and Ødegaard Lead the Arsenal Response
Havertz was at the heart of Arsenal’s turnaround against his former club.
The German forward not only scored the equaliser but also played a decisive role in the move that led to Ødegaard’s winning goal, allowing the ball to run into his captain’s path before the Norwegian finished clinically.
Ødegaard’s performance was particularly encouraging for Arsenal after his injury problems last season, with Arteta praising the captain’s influence and describing him as outstanding on the day.
The victory also showcased Arsenal’s attacking chemistry, with Havertz, Ødegaard, Bukayo Saka and summer signing Christos Tzolis contributing to an increasingly fluid attacking setup.

For Chelsea and new manager Xabi Alonso, the result brought a painful reality check.

Chelsea’s defensive problems are also becoming a growing concern, with Arsenal exposing weaknesses that have continued to attract scrutiny despite the Blues’ promising start under Alonso. Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville criticised Chelsea’s back line but still believes the club has the potential to challenge for a top-three finish.
Arsenal and Manchester City Set the Early Pace
Arsenal’s victory leaves them with a perfect three wins from three matches, alongside Manchester City at the top of the early Premier League standings.
More importantly, the result represented Arsenal’s biggest test of the season so far.
Chelsea arrived at the Emirates unbeaten and full of confidence under Alonso, making Arsenal’s response after conceding inside two minutes all the more impressive.
The Gunners have now sent an early message to their title rivals: last season’s champions are not planning to stand still.
And according to Arteta, that could be the most dangerous development of all.
Arsenal already know what it takes to win the Premier League.
Now their manager believes they can become even better.
