CK Power Public Company Limited has received recognition at the Asia Responsible Enterprise Awards (AREA) 2026 for the fifth consecutive year, highlighting its ongoing community and environmental initiatives through the company’s Hinghoi Project.
The renewable energy producer received awards under the Social Empowerment and Green Leadership categories for projects focused on improving access to renewable energy, creating opportunities for communities and managing natural resources.
The Hinghoi Project is part of CKPower’s broader sustainability strategy and uses the company’s expertise in renewable energy, engineering and environmental management to support communities around its power plants in Thailand and Laos.
One of the recognised initiatives focuses on expanding access to renewable electricity and clean water in communities and remote areas. The programme has carried out 46 projects, including solar-powered water treatment systems, solar street lighting, renewable energy education and community learning centres.
The initiative has expanded access to more than 163,100 watts of renewable energy and provided renewable energy education to more than 16,000 children and young people. It has also involved thousands of employee volunteers.
Another component, known as One Powerplant One Product, supports local communities by developing products and creating opportunities to generate additional income. Six community products have been developed under the programme, generating more than 2.8 million baht in income.
CKPower’s environmental work was also recognised through its Waste to Value initiative at the Xayaburi Hydroelectric Power Plant. The project converts food waste from the plant’s cafeteria into soil conditioners for agricultural use.
Between 2023 and 2025, the initiative processed more than 31,000 kilogrammes of organic waste and produced more than 8,400 kilogrammes of soil conditioners. The project also helped reduce greenhouse gas emissions and the amount of waste sent for incineration.
CKPower said the recognition encourages it to continue developing projects that combine renewable energy, environmental conservation and community development.
The AREA awards are organised by Enterprise Asia and recognise organisations across Asia for initiatives involving responsible business practices and sustainable development.
CKPower said it plans to continue working with local communities and expanding programmes designed to create long-term social and environmental benefits alongside its renewable energy operations.
