Davao Region’s Team Agila has secured second place overall at the WorldSkills Philippines Clark 2026, finishing just one medal behind the national champion.
Led by the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority Region 11, the Davao delegation collected 16 medals across a wide range of technical and vocational skills.
Region IV-A, or Calabarzon, topped the competition with 17 medals, while the National Capital Region finished third with 15.
Five gold medals for Davao
Team Agila’s strongest performances came in five skills categories, where its competitors won gold medals in Plumbing and Heating, Prototype Modelling, Wall and Floor Tiling, Artificial Intelligence and Carpentry.
The delegation also collected three silver medals in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning, Mechatronics and Graphic Design Technology.
Five more competitors brought home bronze medals in ICT Network Infrastructure, Hairdressing, Cooking, Restaurant Services and Bakery.
Three additional competitors received Medallions of Excellence in Additive Manufacturing, Cybersecurity and Beauty Therapy.
The results highlight the breadth of technical expertise represented by the Davao delegation, covering everything from traditional construction skills to emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence and additive manufacturing.
Competition brings together young skilled workers
WorldSkills Philippines is organised under TESDA and serves as the country’s premier competition for showcasing technical and vocational skills.
The national event brings together top young skilled workers from all 18 regions after competitors first go through local and regional selection stages.
Participants compete in specialised skills, with the strongest performers potentially earning opportunities to represent the Philippines in international competitions such as the ASEAN Skills Competition and the global WorldSkills Competition.
For Davao’s competitors, the national event provided an opportunity to demonstrate their skills against some of the country’s strongest young workers.
Davao was the previous national champion
Team Agila’s second-place finish comes two years after Davao Region won the overall championship at the previous WorldSkills Philippines competition.
That edition was held in August 2024 at the World Trade Center in Pasay City.
Although Davao did not repeat its overall championship in 2026, its 16-medal haul kept the region among the country’s strongest performers in technical and vocational skills.
The narrow one-medal gap with Calabarzon also underlined how closely contested this year’s national competition was.
Zamboanga Peninsula to host next edition
WorldSkills Philippines Clark 2026 concluded with the turnover of hosting responsibilities from Region III, or Central Luzon, to Region IX, the Zamboanga Peninsula.
Region IX will host the next edition of the national skills competition.
For Davao, the latest results provide another strong showing for its technical-vocational training system and its young skilled workers.
With five gold medals and a total of 16 medals across diverse fields, Team Agila has once again established itself as one of the Philippines’ leading regional delegations in skills competition.
