Think Tank Urges Thailand EC to Send Senate Collusion Case to Court

A Thai think tank is urging the Election Commission (EC) to refer the controversial Senate election collusion case to court, saying a judicial ruling is needed to resolve doubts surrounding the 2024 Senate selection process.

The call comes as the EC faces mounting pressure over allegations that candidates coordinated their voting during the election, potentially influencing the selection of the 200-member Senate. The case has become a major test of confidence in the country’s electoral system.

The group argues that allowing the courts to examine the case would provide a clearer and more credible determination of whether the alleged conduct violated election laws. It said the EC should not simply dismiss the matter when significant questions about the process remain.
