Twenty-six employees of the City Government of Zamboanga have been recognized for an achievement that demands consistency every working day: perfect punctuality and attendance throughout the entire year of 2025.
The employees received the “Cada Dia Temprano” Award, or “Every Day Early” Award, during a recognition ceremony held Monday, August 24, 2026, at the City Hall grounds following the regular flag-raising ceremony.
According to SunStar Zamboanga, the 26 awardees had no recorded tardiness, undertime or absence from January 1 through December 31, 2025—a full year of maintaining the attendance standard required for the recognition.
The group consists of 23 men and three women. In terms of employment status, 18 are permanent employees, seven are casual employees and one is a contractual employee.
Where the awardees came from
The recipients came from several offices across the city government.
Nine awardees were from the City Administrator’s Office, while five came from the City Mayor’s Office. Three were from the Office of the City Agriculturists.
The City Accountant’s Office and City Engineer’s Office each had two awardees.
One awardee came from each of the following offices:
- City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office
- City General Services Office
- City Treasurer’s Office
- Office of the City Veterinarian
- Office of the City Council
The recognition was organized by the City Human Resource Management Office (CHRMO) through the city’s Program on Awards and Incentives for Service Excellence (PRAISE) Committee. The city’s CHRMO has previously described the “Cada Dia Temprano” distinction as an employee recognition under the CSC-approved PRAISE program.
Mayor praises employees for consistency in public service
Mayor Khymer Olaso led the awarding ceremony and presented the certificates of recognition.
Olaso commended the recipients for their hard work, perseverance and commitment to public service, while encouraging other city employees to emulate their example.
The ceremony was also attended by Chief of Staff and Executive Secretary Celso Lobregat, City Administrator Percival Ramos, CHRMO Chief Marinyd Tingcang, and members of the PRAISE Committee.
Why the recognition matters
The award may sound simple—being early and present every day—but maintaining a perfect attendance record for an entire calendar year is a demanding workplace achievement.
For a local government, employee attendance directly affects the continuity of public-facing services. The “Cada Dia Temprano” recognition therefore places attention on a basic but important aspect of government service: showing up consistently and being ready to work.
The 26 employees now stand out not because of a single accomplishment, but because they maintained the same standard across 12 consecutive months and an entire year of government service.
For Zamboanga City, the recognition also serves as a reminder that good public service is not measured only by major projects and announcements. Sometimes, it begins with something much more basic—being there, on time, every working day.
