22,583 Kidapawan Residents Already Got Rice Aid — But 10 Barangays Are Still Waiting

KIDAPAWAN CITY, COTABATO — More than 22,000 residents of Kidapawan City have already received government rice assistance under the Bagong Pilipinas Rice Program, as authorities continue the distribution across the city’s remaining barangays.

As of August 17, 2026, a total of 22,583 beneficiaries had received 10 kilograms of rice each, according to the Philippine Information Agency (PIA). The distribution had reached 30 of Kidapawan’s 40 barangays, meaning the assistance rollout is still ongoing.

The rice assistance is funded through the national government’s Local Government Support Fund (LGSF), which provided a ₱169-million allocation for Cotabato Province. The provincial government is implementing the distribution in coordination with the National Food Authority (NFA).

Among the barangays already reached are Birada, Mua-an, Indangan, Perez, Ilomavis, Balabag, Ginatilan, Meohao, Sumbac and Macebolig. Other beneficiaries have also received assistance in Junction, Singao, Mateo, Kalasuyan, Luvimin, Gayola, Katipunan, Sikitan, Sto. Niño and San Roque.

Provincial social welfare personnel have likewise visited several other Kidapawan barangays, including San Isidro, Linangkob, Marbel, Balindog, Onica, Amazion, Paco, Binoligan, Malinan and Amas, as the rice distribution continues.

Governor Emmylou Taliño-Mendoza said the LGSF should be directed toward projects and assistance that can significantly benefit vulnerable families. She also called on residents to monitor the implementation and report possible irregularities in the use of the funds.

The Kidapawan distribution forms part of a wider rice-assistance effort across Cotabato. In Kabacan, for example, PIA reported in June that 32,289 households across 17 barangays received 10 kilograms of rice each under the same LGSF-backed assistance program. That distribution was valued at more than ₱10.6 million.

The national program has also been rolled out in other parts of the country. Recent government reports have documented Bagong Pilipinas rice assistance in areas including Camiguin and other provinces, showing that the LGSF-backed initiative is being implemented through local governments in multiple regions.

For Kidapawan residents, however, the immediate focus is on the remaining 10 barangays yet to be covered based on the August 17 distribution status.

With thousands of families already receiving rice assistance and the rollout still underway, the next question is clear: when will the remaining communities receive their share?
