Two passengers were taken to hospital after a car collided with a truck at a junction in Woodlands on Sunday morning (Oct. 4), with dashcam footage appearing to show the car travelling through a red light before striking the truck.
The accident happened at about 7.10am at the junction of Woodlands Road and Woodlands Centre Road, according to the Singapore Police Force and Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF).
Car Appears to Run Red Light
Dashcam footage shared with SG Road Vigilante and posted on its Facebook page shows a dark-coloured car approaching the junction.
The vehicle does not appear to slow down as it approaches the intersection, while a truck can be seen turning across the junction with the traffic lights in its favour.
The car then crashes into the side of the truck.
The impact caused significant damage to the front of the car, particularly around its bumper and front section.
The footage captures the collision from a distance and does not, on its own, establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident or determine legal responsibility.
Two Passengers Taken to Hospital
Police said the 58-year-old male driver of the car is assisting with ongoing investigations.
Two passengers in the car — a 19-year-old man and a 24-year-old woman — were taken to hospital while conscious.
There were no reports that the truck driver required hospitalisation.
Police investigations into the accident are ongoing.
Red-Light Running Remains a Road Safety Concern
The Woodlands collision comes amid continued concerns over accidents linked to motorists failing to obey traffic signals.
In a separate serious crash in October 2025, a lorry driver was arrested after allegedly running a red light at a junction in the Sungei Kadut area and colliding with another lorry. Twenty-one people were taken to hospital in that incident.
Singapore Police have previously stressed that motorists should reduce their speed when approaching traffic junctions and remain alert even when they have a green light, allowing enough time to stop safely if traffic conditions change.
For the Woodlands accident, police have not announced any charge against the 58-year-old driver. Investigations remain ongoing.
