TCL is strengthening its grip on the Philippine television market after being named the country’s No. 1 panel TV brand for the third consecutive year, while simultaneously pushing a new display technology aimed at the premium segment: Super-QD Mini LED, or SQD-Mini LED.
The recognition comes from the 2025 Annual Cumulative Market Share Report of TRS Research, which tracked TCL’s performance across brick-and-mortar retail stores nationwide throughout 2025.
While TCL did not disclose its exact market share or sales volume, the three-year run places the brand at the top of one of the Philippines’ most competitive consumer-electronics categories.
Three years at the top
TCL’s latest Philippine ranking comes as consumers increasingly look beyond basic television features, with larger screens, higher brightness, stronger contrast, gaming capabilities and smarter connected-TV functions becoming increasingly important in the market.
TCL Philippines CEO Peter Chen said the company views the third consecutive No. 1 ranking as a reflection of consumer trust and an incentive to continue making premium technology more accessible.
The company’s Philippine performance also coincides with strong international results.
According to market research firm Omdia, TCL ranked No. 1 globally in shipments of 75-inch-and-larger TVs and Mini LED TVs in 2025. TCL also ranked first in worldwide Google TV shipments for five consecutive years, from 2021 through 2025.
But TCL isn’t simply celebrating its market position.
It is using that momentum to make a bigger push into premium television technology.
Enter SQD-Mini LED
TCL’s latest display push centers on Super-QD Mini LED, or SQD-Mini LED.
The technology combines Mini LED backlighting with quantum-dot technology and TCL’s own light-control systems. The company says the approach is designed to provide more precise control of brightness and darkness while improving color reproduction, contrast and the handling of blooming around bright objects.
TCL describes SQD-Mini LED as an evolution of conventional Mini LED technology, using what it calls Precise Dimming Zones to provide finer backlight control.
The company says its SQD-Mini LED platform can scale to as many as 20,736 precise dimming zones and up to 10,000 nits of peak brightness on its largest X11L configuration. Those figures are model-specific and should not be interpreted as specifications for every SQD-Mini LED television.
That distinction matters because TCL’s new Philippine lineup comes with different specifications depending on screen size and model.
C7L brings SQD-Mini LED to more buyers
One of TCL’s key 2026 SQD-Mini LED models in the Philippines is the C7L, available in 55-, 65-, 75- and 85-inch versions.
According to TCL Philippines, the C7L features a HVA 2.0 Pro panel, TCL’s image-processing technology, Bang & Olufsen audio and gaming features including a 288Hz VRR Game Accelerator.
The model’s specifications vary by screen size. TCL lists the 55-inch C7L with up to 800 precise dimming zones and 2,700 nits HDR brightness, while larger variants offer higher numbers of dimming zones.
Philippine tech publication Newsbytes reported launch pricing of:
- 55-inch — P61,995
- 65-inch — P69,995
- 75-inch — P99,995
- 85-inch — P135,995
The C7L is being positioned particularly toward consumers interested in large-screen home entertainment, gaming and premium viewing without necessarily moving all the way to TCL’s flagship models.
TCL is going after the premium TV battle
The SQD-Mini LED push also signals a broader shift in TCL’s strategy.
The company has already built a strong position in Mini LED and large-screen televisions. Its latest technology push attempts to move that advantage further into the premium display market, where picture quality, brightness, contrast and sophisticated backlight control are major selling points.
TCL’s X11L, which the company describes as its first SQD-Mini LED flagship television, received an Innovative Display Technology Gold Award at the Global Top Brands Awards during CES 2026. YugaTech likewise reported that the X11L was the first TCL television built around the SQD-Mini LED platform.
The company’s strategy is therefore becoming increasingly clear: use its scale in mainstream and large-screen TVs to bring more advanced display technology into a wider range of price points.
What this means for Filipino TV buyers
For consumers, TCL’s latest move could intensify competition in the premium TV market.
Mini LED televisions have become attractive to buyers seeking high brightness, strong contrast and improved black levels while avoiding some of the limitations associated with conventional LCD televisions. TCL’s existing Mini LED lineup already offers technologies such as local dimming, high peak brightness and high refresh rates.
SQD-Mini LED takes that strategy further by placing greater emphasis on precision backlight control and color stability.
However, shoppers should pay attention to the exact model and screen size rather than assuming every television carrying the SQD-Mini LED branding has flagship-level specifications. TCL’s own Philippine product pages show significant differences in dimming-zone counts and brightness depending on the model.
The bigger picture
TCL’s third consecutive Philippine panel-TV leadership gives the company a powerful starting point as it enters the next phase of its display strategy.
The immediate challenge will be whether SQD-Mini LED can turn TCL’s existing strength in the Philippine mass market into an even stronger position in the premium segment.
For Filipino consumers, that could mean more competition—and potentially more choices—at a time when large-screen TVs and advanced display technologies are becoming increasingly accessible.
TCL has already won the sales battle for three straight years. The next question is whether SQD-Mini LED can help it win the premium-display battle too.
