Sharp Opens AI Server Orders in Japan as Foxconn Supply Chain Powers AI Push

TOKYO, Japan — Sharp is making a new push into Japan’s rapidly expanding artificial-intelligence infrastructure market, beginning to accept orders for AI servers supplied through its Taiwanese parent company, Foxconn, and equipped with NVIDIA processors.

Sharp began taking orders in Japan on September 15, 2026, according to recent industry reporting. The move gives the Japanese electronics maker access to Foxconn’s extensive manufacturing and supply-chain capabilities as demand for computing infrastructure for generative AI and other advanced applications continues to grow.

Sharp Turns to AI Infrastructure

The move marks a significant expansion for Sharp, whose businesses have traditionally included displays, televisions, appliances and other electronics.

Rather than developing an entirely independent AI-server manufacturing operation, Sharp is leveraging its relationship with Foxconn, which has been expanding aggressively in AI servers and data-center hardware.
