South Korean stand-up comedian Kim Dong-ha is taking his comedy beyond Korea once again — this time to Japan, where he is set to stage his first solo stand-up performance in the country.
Kim will perform “Kim Dong-ha: Oishii Stand-up Comedy Live” at 6 p.m. on October 24, 2026, at the fifth-floor auditorium of Mindan Osaka in Japan, according to his agency, Meta Comedy. The title “Oishii” is a Japanese word meaning “delicious.”
The Osaka performance is being billed by Meta Comedy as a landmark moment for Korean stand-up, with the agency saying Kim will be the first Korean stand-up comedian to stage an individual live performance in Japan.
Korean Comedy Takes the Stage in Japan
The show is expected to be performed primarily in Korean, with Korean-speaking Japanese audiences and Korean immigrants among the intended audience.
Kim’s material is expected to blend observational comedy, satire and spontaneous interaction with the audience, giving the Osaka show a distinctly live and conversational feel.
Japan has long had an established comedy culture, particularly through variety programs, sketch comedy and live performance. Kim’s appearance adds another chapter to the growing movement of Korean-language stand-up performances reaching audiences outside South Korea.
From Korea to North America — and Now Japan
The Japan show comes after Kim’s “Made in Korea” North American tour, which included performances in Washington, D.C., Toronto and Vancouver in April 2026.
The tour was performed entirely in Korean and explored topics including immigrant experiences, cultural differences, dating and marriage. Canadian venue Rio Theatre also promoted Kim as a Korean stand-up comedy performer bringing his tour to Vancouver.

A Comedy Career Built on Stand-Up
Kim made his stand-up debut in 2018 through “Stand-up Comedy Stage 6” at Comedy Haven in Seoul’s Gangnam district. He subsequently developed his career through solo performances and tours in Korea before expanding internationally.
According to Meta Comedy, videos featuring Kim on YouTube and social media have accumulated more than 300 million views, giving him a substantial online audience as his live career expands overseas.
His international activity reflects the increasing visibility of Korean stand-up comedy beyond the country’s traditional television and variety-show ecosystem.
Osaka Could Mark Another Step for Korean Stand-Up
Kim’s October performance will put Korean-language stand-up directly in front of an audience in Japan, following his recent North American expansion.
With the Osaka date approaching, attention will now turn to whether “Oishii” can introduce Kim’s particular brand of Korean observational humor to an even broader audience — and whether Japan becomes another important stop in his growing international comedy career.
