The Bureau of Customs-Port of Cebu collected more than P4 billion in revenue in August 2026, surpassing its monthly target as strong collections from its subports helped boost the district’s overall performance.
The Port of Cebu collected approximately P4.062 billion during the month, exceeding its target by about P86.86 million.
The latest figures highlight the continued contribution of Cebu’s ports to government revenue collection and come as the Bureau of Customs works to sustain collection efficiency across its different ports and collection districts.
Collection surpasses August target
The P4.062-billion collection allowed the Port of Cebu to finish August above its assigned revenue goal.
The surplus was driven in part by strong performances from the port’s subports, particularly the ports of Mactan and Dumaguete.
The results indicate that customs collections remained resilient despite fluctuations in import activity and other factors affecting trade.
For the Bureau of Customs, exceeding monthly collection targets provides additional support for its broader revenue-generation responsibilities.
Mactan and Dumaguete boost performance
The strong showing from Mactan and Dumaguete played an important role in helping the Port of Cebu exceed its August target.
The two subports form part of the wider collection district overseen by the Bureau of Customs-Port of Cebu and contribute customs duties and other revenues from imported goods passing through their respective areas.
Their performance helped offset potential fluctuations in collections from individual ports and strengthened the district’s overall result for the month.
Cebu remains a major revenue contributor
The August results build on the Port of Cebu’s strong performance during the first half of 2026.
The port collected P25.331 billion during the first six months of the year, also exceeding its target for the period.
The continued collection gains reflect Cebu’s role as a major trading and logistics hub in the Visayas, with imported goods moving through its ports generating customs duties and other government revenues.
Revenue collection remains a key priority
The Bureau of Customs has continued to emphasise improved collection efficiency, stronger trade facilitation and tighter enforcement as it works to meet national revenue targets.
For the Port of Cebu, maintaining collections above target will depend on sustained import activity, efficient customs processing and continued performance from its subports.
The August figures provide another positive result for the Cebu collection district, which is now positioned to carry its strong revenue performance into the remaining months of 2026.
