MANILA, Philippines — Adamson University continues to tighten its grip on the 2026 V-League Collegiate Challenge women’s division after the Lady Falcons defeated College of Saint Benilde in four sets on Sunday night, extending their perfect run to 4-0.
The defending champions overcame an early setback before pulling away from the Lady Blazers, winning 24-26, 25-17, 25-18, 25-23 at Gameville Central Park in Mandaluyong City.
The victory puts Adamson just one win away from securing a place in the semifinals, making its upcoming clash with fellow unbeaten side Arellano University even more significant.
Mordi leads Adamson comeback
Frances Ifeoma Mordi delivered another standout performance for the Lady Falcons, finishing with 23 points, built on 20 attacks, two blocks and an ace.
Lana Barrera also provided a steady all-around contribution, scoring 16 points while collecting eight excellent receptions.
Behind them, setters Fhei Sagaysay and Ysabella Sapienza combined for 24 excellent sets, helping Adamson maintain its offensive rhythm after dropping the opening frame.
Adamson head coach JP Yude credited the team’s ability to respond during difficult stretches and emphasized the importance of contributions from the entire roster.
That depth could become crucial as the tournament enters a more decisive stage.
CSB pushes Adamson before falling short
College of Saint Benilde refused to go quietly after taking the opening set, but Adamson responded emphatically in the next two frames.
Mhonniecka Soliven paced the Lady Blazers with 15 points, while Arianna Raven Pua and Camila Amor Bartolome added 11 and 10 points, respectively.
The fourth set became a potential turning point, but Adamson managed to close out the match 25-23 and preserve its unbeaten record.
The result also continues a strong tournament campaign for Adamson. Earlier in the competition, the Lady Falcons swept Letran, another result that helped establish them as one of the teams to beat in the women’s field.
Now comes the test
Adamson’s next scheduled women’s match is arguably its biggest test yet.
The Lady Falcons are set to face Arellano University on September 12, with both teams carrying unbeaten 4-0 records.
Arellano has also emerged as a serious contender. The Lady Chiefs recently defeated Perpetual Help in straight sets after opening the tournament with a series of victories, including a dramatic five-set win over CSB.
That sets up a highly anticipated clash between two undefeated teams.
For Adamson, the equation is simple: one more victory would secure a semifinal berth.
But with Arellano standing in the way, maintaining that perfect record may be the toughest challenge yet.
And if both unbeaten teams arrive at their showdown still undefeated, the September 12 meeting could become one of the defining matches of the V-League Collegiate Challenge.
