Reacher Star Alan Ritchson Announces Split From Wife After 20 Years of Marriage

“Reacher” star Alan Ritchson and his wife, Catherine Ritchson, have announced the end of their 20-year marriage, saying they intend to remain friends and committed co-parents to their three children.

The 43-year-old actor and Catherine shared the news in a joint statement on social media on Sept. 12, saying they had decided to end their marriage and “continue alongside one another in a different way.”

The couple said they had grown up together, built a family together and remained united in putting their three sons at the centre of their lives. They stressed that the end of their marriage did not erase the love and respect they continue to have for each other.

Their sons are Calem, 13, Edan, 12, and Amory, 10. The couple said their priority is now to maintain a strong friendship and become the best possible co-parents while giving each other space to grow individually.

They also asked the public to respect their privacy as the family adjusts to the change, particularly for the sake of their children.

Ritchson and Catherine first met as teenagers during a ballet class in Florida. They briefly dated before separating, then reconnected several years later while Catherine was in college. They became engaged in 2005 and married in May 2006.

The public announcement comes after a previously undisclosed divorce filing. Court documents reported by multiple outlets show that Ritchson filed for divorce in December 2025, citing irreconcilable differences. The couple later reconciled in March 2026 before ultimately announcing their separation this month.

The split marks a significant change for a couple who had frequently spoken publicly about their long relationship and family life. In 2025, Ritchson described Catherine as central to the life they had built together and celebrated their 19th wedding anniversary with a public tribute.

Ritchson has risen to international prominence through his role as Jack Reacher in the Amazon Prime Video series “Reacher”. He has also appeared in films including “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire”, “Fast X” and “Ordinary Angels”.

Despite their decision to end their marriage, the couple’s statement presented the separation as a transition rather than a complete break in their relationship.

“Change is hard enough without the world weighing in,” they said, asking for compassion as they begin what they described as a new chapter for their family.
