SINGAPORE — UK-based quantum computing company Universal Quantum is setting up its first research and development centre outside Europe in Singapore, marking a major vote of confidence in the city-state’s growing quantum technology ecosystem.
The new facility will focus on ion trap chip process development and integration, combining Universal Quantum’s chip design expertise with Singapore’s advanced semiconductor fabrication and packaging capabilities. The company said the work will support its goal of developing fault-tolerant and scalable trapped-ion quantum computers.
