SINGAPORE — A popular weekend savings perk is coming back, and Singapore shoppers may want to check their PayLah! app before paying for their next hawker meal, market purchase or heartland shopping trip.
DBS is bringing back its PayLah! S$3 Cashback campaign from Saturday, Aug. 29, giving eligible customers the chance to receive up to S$3 cashback every Saturday at participating hawker stalls, wet markets, coffee shops and heartland shops.
But there is one important detail: the cashback is available only to the first 160,000 customers each Saturday.
The campaign will run for 17 Saturdays, from Aug. 29 to Dec. 19, 2026, with a total of 2.7 million cashback rewards available. DBS said this is about 40 per cent more rewards than last year’s campaign.
The S$3 cashback is back — and there are more rewards this time
The promotion marks the fourth year of DBS’s PayLah! S$3 cashback campaign.
The initiative originally focused on hawker meals when it launched in 2023 before expanding to include more neighbourhood businesses and wet markets.
For 2026, the campaign forms part of DBS’s broader S$10 million support programme, which was introduced to help customers manage everyday cost pressures while encouraging spending at local businesses.
DBS said the latest campaign will provide 2.7 million cashback rewards, up from the previous year’s allocation.
That means there will be more opportunities to claim the cashback — although the first-come, first-served limit each Saturday remains a key factor for shoppers.
Where can shoppers use the cashback?
The offer covers participating businesses in Singapore’s heartlands, including:
- Hawker stalls
- Wet markets
- Coffee shops
- Heartland shops
Customers should look for participating merchants and use DBS PayLah! Scan to Pay when making an eligible purchase.
DBS’s previous campaigns required participating merchants to display the relevant PayLah! or POSB promotional signage, with participating hawker stalls accepting SGQR payments.
The catch: being eligible does not guarantee cashback
This is the detail shoppers should remember.
The cashback is first come, first served, with the first 160,000 eligible customers each Saturday able to receive the reward.
So while the promotion runs throughout the day, waiting too long could mean missing out once the day’s allocation has been exhausted.
That makes timing particularly important for people who plan to use PayLah! for their Saturday breakfast, lunch, wet-market shopping or neighbourhood errands.
Why DBS is bringing it back
The campaign is not only about giving shoppers a small discount.
DBS said its PayLah! cashback initiatives have also helped drive business to neighbourhood merchants.
During the 2025 campaign, participating hawkers, wet-market stallholders and heartland merchants recorded a 50 per cent increase in Saturday earnings from PayLah! transactions, according to DBS. This was higher than the 40 per cent increase recorded during a similar campaign in 2024.
DBS also reported that 36 per cent of cashback recipients in 2025 were senior citizens and/or people earning less than S$2,500 a month, highlighting how the promotion has reached some consumers who may be more sensitive to everyday costs.
The bank said around half of PayLah! Scan to Pay transactions are now used for food and groceries at heartland shops and hawker stalls.
It follows DBS’s supermarket savings campaign
The PayLah! cashback promotion is the next phase of DBS’s 2026 Saturday Savings programme.
From July 18 to Aug. 29, DBS/POSB cardholders have been able to receive S$3 off selected eggs and S$3 off selected rice products at participating Giant and Sheng Siong supermarkets every Saturday, for potential savings of up to S$6.
That supermarket promotion covers 129 participating outlets and is separate from the PayLah! cashback campaign.
DBS previously said the grocery initiative was part of its S$10 million support measures aimed at helping Singaporeans manage cost pressures.
What shoppers should remember
If you’re planning to use the PayLah! cashback, the most important points are simple:
📅 Starts: Aug. 29, 2026
📅 Ends: Dec. 19, 2026
🗓️ Frequency: Every Saturday
💰 Cashback: Up to S$3
👥 Daily allocation: First 160,000 customers each Saturday
🎁 Total rewards: 2.7 million
📍 Participating locations: Heartland shops, wet markets, coffee shops and hawker stalls
The promotion is designed to make everyday spending a little cheaper — but because the rewards are limited each Saturday, shoppers who want the cashback may need to act early.
In other words, the S$3 may be easy to claim — but only if you get there before the daily pool runs out.
