SEOUL — SEVENTEEN’s Joshua has opened a new chapter in his solo music career with “Baby Come Home,” a digital single released in both Chinese and English, giving fans a new showcase of his multilingual vocals and songwriting.
Released September 22 at 1 p.m. KST, the digital single contains two versions of the song: a Chinese-language version featuring Taiwanese singer-songwriter WeiBird and an English version performed entirely by Joshua. PLEDIS Entertainment confirmed the two-track release in its official announcement.
The release also highlights Joshua’s growing musical activity outside SEVENTEEN’s group projects, while adding another connection between K-pop and Taiwan’s Mandarin-language music scene.
Joshua Takes “Baby Come Home” Beyond Korean
“Baby Come Home” is built around an acoustic-guitar-driven arrangement, with bass and drums supporting a warm, understated sound.
Joshua participated in both the writing and composition of the track, according to multiple reports citing PLEDIS Entertainment.
The song centers on the idea of being a dependable place of comfort — someone a person can return to even as circumstances change.
The English version presents Joshua on his own, while the Chinese version adds WeiBird’s vocals, creating a duet that gives the song a distinct Mandarin-language identity.
WeiBird Brings a Taiwanese Music Connection
One of the most notable elements of the release is Joshua’s collaboration with WeiBird, the Taiwanese singer-songwriter who appears on the Chinese version.
WeiBird is an established figure in Mandarin-language pop and has received recognition at Taiwan’s Golden Melody Awards. Korean media reports identified him as a collaborator on the Chinese version of “Baby Come Home.”
The collaboration is particularly significant for Joshua, who has previously explored Chinese-language music.
According to Sports Kyunghyang, Joshua previously covered a song by Chinese singer-songwriter Ronghao Li, with the track reaching No. 1 on two QQ Music charts. He has also participated in other music projects, including the soundtrack for the film “K-POPS!” directed by and starring Anderson .Paak.
A Surprise Release Before Joshua’s Next SEVENTEEN Project
The timing of “Baby Come Home” is also drawing attention because Joshua is preparing for another major release with SEVENTEEN member Jeonghan.
PLEDIS Entertainment announced on September 23 that Jeonghan and Joshua will form a new SEVENTEEN unit and release their first EP, “DREAMSCAPE,” on October 19.
The upcoming EP is described as exploring two meanings of dreaming: unconscious fantasies during sleep and the ideals people pursue while awake.
That makes Joshua’s latest solo release more than a standalone musical moment. It arrives just weeks before his next major project with Jeonghan, giving fans another release to anticipate.
Joshua’s Multilingual Strategy Is Expanding
“Baby Come Home” also reflects the increasingly international nature of K-pop releases.
Rather than simply translating one version of a song, Joshua’s new project gives the Chinese and English versions separate identities. The Chinese track brings in a Taiwanese artist, while the English recording remains a solo performance.
Yonhap described the release as Joshua’s individual digital single and confirmed that the Chinese version features WeiBird, while Joshua performs the English version alone.
The approach allows Joshua to connect with different audiences while maintaining the same central musical theme.
The Next Question: How Far Will Joshua Take His Solo Sound?
For SEVENTEEN fans, “Baby Come Home” offers a glimpse into Joshua’s individual musical direction at a particularly active point in his career.
The song’s acoustic foundation and restrained arrangement put greater emphasis on his vocals and songwriting, while the Chinese collaboration broadens the project’s regional reach.
And with “DREAMSCAPE” arriving October 19, Joshua is moving quickly from a bilingual solo release into a new unit chapter with Jeonghan.
For now, “Baby Come Home” stands as a clear expansion of Joshua’s musical palette — combining English, Mandarin and a cross-border collaboration while keeping the focus on a warm, vocal-centered sound.
