RCBC Lets Premium Banking Members Share Benefits With Four Relatives — But Its ₱500,000 Family Requirement Reveals a Bigger Strategy

RCBC Lets Premium Banking Members Share Benefits With Four Relatives — But Its ₱500,000 Family Requirement Reveals a Bigger Strategy

MANILA, Philippines — Rizal Commercial Banking Corporation (RCBC) is taking its premium banking strategy beyond individual depositors, launching a new family-focused program that allows qualified customers to extend selected banking and lifestyle privileges to their loved ones.

The initiative, called Hexagon Club Family, allows eligible RCBC Hexagon Club Priority and Privilege members to nominate up to four relatives for benefits covering branch services, preferential financial rates, selected loan-related privileges and lifestyle offerings.

The program is designed to strengthen the bank’s relationships with affluent Filipino households by making premium banking benefits available across generations.

To qualify for the family extension, a primary member must maintain at least ₱500,000 in aggregate eligible current and savings account deposits with RCBC, subject to the program’s balance requirements.

But while nominated relatives do not need to maintain their own premium-level balances, the benefits come with conditions that customers need to understand.

Will RCBC’s household approach give families more practical value from premium banking — or will the deposit thresholds and fine print determine who truly benefits?

RCBC Introduces Premium Banking for the Whole Family

RCBC’s Hexagon Club has traditionally focused on providing enhanced services and privileges to individual customers who maintain qualifying banking relationships.

With the introduction of Hexagon Club Family, the bank is extending selected benefits beyond the primary account holder.

The program recognizes that household finances often involve several generations.

Parents may help children manage savings, couples may plan major purchases together, and family members may coordinate financial obligations.

Instead of requiring every relative to qualify independently for premium membership, RCBC allows one eligible primary member to nominate family members under the household program.

The arrangement is optional.

It does not automatically enroll every relative of an existing Hexagon Club customer.

The primary member must request enrollment and submit the required nomination documentation.

For RCBC, the initiative provides an opportunity to deepen customer relationships by connecting more members of a household with the bank’s services.

Who Qualifies for Hexagon Club Family?

Under RCBC’s published rules, the feature is available to existing qualified Hexagon Club Priority and Privilege members.

The primary member must maintain an aggregate balance of at least ₱500,000 across eligible RCBC peso or foreign-currency checking and savings accounts.

The bank also considers applicable average daily balance requirements when determining eligibility for certain benefits.

Customers should distinguish the Hexagon Club Family threshold from the requirements for individual Hexagon Club tiers.

For example, RCBC’s standard Hexagon Club Priority membership requires at least ₱1 million in qualifying deposits.

The ₱500,000 figure applies to eligibility for the family extension and does not replace every requirement associated with the bank’s separate premium membership categories.

That distinction is important because the bank offers multiple Hexagon Club tiers with different qualifications and benefits.

Up to Four Relatives Can Join the Family Circle

Each qualified primary member can nominate up to four eligible relatives.

According to RCBC, the permitted relationships include spouses or partners, parents, grandparents, children, grandchildren and siblings.

Nominees must have active individual deposit accounts with RCBC.

Eligible supplementary members do not need to maintain their own premium-level average daily balance to access selected family benefits.

However, their accounts remain subject to the usual minimum balance requirements and other conditions associated with their account types.

The arrangement is not a joint ownership structure that automatically combines family members’ money.

Each member continues to have an individual banking relationship and control of their own accounts, subject to the applicable account agreements.

The family feature instead provides access to selected shared privileges linked to the qualifying primary member.

What Banking Benefits Can Families Receive?

Hexagon Club Family offers several categories of privileges.

One is priority banking assistance.

Nominated relatives may receive priority queuing at branches, access to assistance from a dedicated branch manager and waivers of certain inter-branch or inter-regional transaction fees.

The program also provides access to preferential financial pricing, subject to eligibility and transaction-specific conditions.

These may include enhanced time-deposit rates, preferential loan interest rates, special foreign-exchange pricing and selected fee waivers.

RCBC lists additional benefits involving auto loans, home loans and personal loans.

For example, the program includes qualifying auto-loan fuel allowances, reimbursable appraisal fees for home loans and waived processing fees for eligible personal loans.

But these incentives are not universal guarantees.

Loan applications remain subject to credit approval and applicable product requirements.

Preferential rates and waivers can also depend on the primary member’s deposit balance, the type of transaction and the bank’s prevailing terms.

Credit Card and Telemedicine Benefits Add a Lifestyle Dimension

RCBC is also combining traditional banking privileges with services intended to appeal to households’ everyday needs.

The program includes access to qualifying supplementary RCBC Hexagon Club Mastercard credit cards with no annual fee for life.

It also offers telemedicine services through the bank’s healthcare partner, subject to program terms.

Participants may receive invitations to exclusive events, merchant offers and other promotional privileges.

The benefits illustrate how banks increasingly use lifestyle services to strengthen customer loyalty.

Rather than competing solely through deposit interest rates or loan pricing, financial institutions may offer experiences and convenience that encourage customers to remain engaged with the bank.

However, supplementary credit cards should not be confused with independent, unlimited credit facilities.

Card issuance, available credit limits and account responsibilities remain subject to the card issuer’s rules and approval processes.

Likewise, free telemedicine services are subject to their applicable scope, eligibility conditions and service arrangements.

RCBC Executive Sees Opportunity in Family Relationships

RCBC Retail Banking Group Head Richard C. Lim said the new offering is designed to help customers share the advantages of premium banking with people who matter to them.

The bank’s message emphasizes family experiences and long-term relationships rather than limiting premium services to one depositor.

This reflects a wider commercial strategy.

Customers who already maintain significant deposits may also have family members who need savings accounts, financing, credit cards or other financial services.

By offering selected privileges to relatives, a bank may become more relevant across multiple household financial activities.

For RCBC, the strategy could improve customer retention and create opportunities to deepen its share of each household’s banking relationships.

However, these are potential commercial benefits.

RCBC has not published figures establishing how many new accounts, loans or deposits Hexagon Club Family has generated since its launch.

What Happens if the ₱500,000 Balance Falls?

One of the most important program conditions concerns the primary member’s qualifying account balance.

RCBC’s official frequently asked questions explain that if the primary member falls below the required ₱500,000 level, the extension of benefits to supplementary members may be temporarily suspended.

If the required balance is restored, benefits can reactivate under the bank’s conditions.

Prolonged failure to satisfy the threshold can result in the termination of the family subscription.

The primary member’s own premium banking membership is treated separately and remains subject to its applicable tier requirements.

This means a family should not assume that benefits will continue indefinitely simply because relatives have already been nominated.

Customers need to monitor their eligibility and understand which privileges depend on a prior month’s qualifying average daily balance.

The ability to maintain the necessary deposit level is therefore central to the usefulness of the program.

Family Members Can Leave or Be Replaced

The feature also provides flexibility for changes in household circumstances.

According to RCBC, a primary member can request changes to the family group, including adding, removing or replacing nominees, subject to the four-member limit and bank procedures.

A nominated family member can also request to leave the arrangement.

If a supplementary member later qualifies for an individual Hexagon Club tier, the person’s own premium membership may take precedence.

These provisions matter because family structures and financial needs can change.

Children may become financially independent, parents may change accounts, and households may reassess which relatives would benefit most from the available privileges.

The program is designed to accommodate such changes without treating every family relationship as permanent.

But modifications require the applicable requests and bank processing.

RCBC’s Strategy Comes Amid Stronger Consumer Lending

The family banking launch comes as RCBC continues to expand its consumer financial services.

In its first-half 2026 results, the bank reported total customer loans of ₱806 billion, up 9% from the previous year.

Its consumer loan portfolio increased 22% to ₱402.4 billion.

Total deposits reached ₱1.06 trillion, while assets stood at approximately ₱1.41 trillion.

The figures show the scale of RCBC’s existing business and the importance of consumers to its lending operations.

A family banking program could complement that strategy by creating opportunities for customers to consider multiple products within one banking relationship.

For example, a household could have different members using deposit accounts, credit cards and home or auto financing.

However, the company’s financial statements do not establish that Hexagon Club Family caused its first-half loan or deposit growth.

The reported figures predate the new program’s October publicity and should be treated as background financial context.

Profit Pressure Adds Another Dimension

RCBC’s first-half results also reveal challenges facing the banking industry.

The bank reported net income of ₱4.11 billion during the first six months of 2026, a decline of approximately 22.6% from ₱5.3 billion a year earlier.

The decline was largely attributed to higher credit impairment provisions as management responded to an uncertain economic environment.

Gross income nevertheless increased 11.6% to ₱33.91 billion.

Net interest income rose 18.2%, while the net interest margin improved to 5.1%.

These contrasting indicators show how lending growth and higher revenue do not automatically translate into increased net profit.

For banks, credit quality and the cost of managing loan risks remain important considerations.

RCBC’s effort to deepen affluent household relationships may help strengthen customer engagement, but its profitability will continue to depend on broader financial performance and prudent lending.

Why Banks Are Competing for Entire Households

Family banking represents a different way of organizing customer relationships.

Traditional banking services are usually marketed to individuals based on their income, account balances or borrowing requirements.

But households often make important financial decisions together.

These may include buying property, supporting education, preparing for retirement or helping family members start businesses.

A bank that serves multiple people within the same family may have more opportunities to understand their financial needs.

It may also improve customer retention when relatives become accustomed to using the same financial institution.

This concept is commercially attractive, particularly among affluent customers who may use several financial products.

But there are important limits.

Family banking does not automatically mean shared account access, collective ownership of deposits or permission to view another relative’s private financial information.

Confidentiality and individual account rights continue to matter.

Customers should confirm precisely what information and privileges are shared before enrolling.

What Families Should Check Before Joining

The program may offer useful benefits for households that already qualify.

But families should evaluate the practical value against the money they must keep deposited to maintain eligibility.

A ₱500,000 qualifying balance can represent a substantial amount of household savings.

Customers should consider whether those funds need to remain liquid for emergencies, major expenses or other financial goals.

They should also compare interest rates, fees and loan terms with alternatives.

A preferred loan rate may be attractive, but borrowers still need to evaluate the total repayment cost.

Similarly, a promotional time-deposit rate may apply only to qualifying amounts or specific currencies.

RCBC’s published conditions indicate that certain enhanced time-deposit rates require minimum placements of ₱100,000 or US$5,000, while some foreign-currency advantages have additional balance requirements.

The important consideration is whether the benefits a family expects to use justify maintaining the required banking relationship.

Premium Banking Is Different From Comprehensive Wealth Management

RCBC’s family initiative may support longer-term household financial planning.

But it should not be confused with an automatic estate-planning or family trust service.

Hexagon Club Family primarily extends selected deposit, lending, branch and lifestyle privileges to eligible relatives.

Formal estate planning, inheritance arrangements, trusts and investment management involve separate legal and financial considerations.

RCBC has other wealth-management services, and it received recognition for succession planning at the Euromoney Private Banking Awards 2025.

However, that award does not mean every Hexagon Club Family nominee automatically receives personalized estate planning or investment advisory services.

Families seeking those services should ask about separate eligibility, professional requirements and fees.

The distinction matters because sharing premium banking privileges is not the same as transferring wealth or establishing a legally recognized inheritance arrangement.

The Bigger Challenge: More Family Members, Stronger Customer Loyalty?

RCBC’s new family banking program marks a strategic effort to deepen its relationships with affluent customers.

By allowing eligible members to nominate up to four relatives, the bank is extending selected privileges beyond the person who maintains the qualifying deposit balance.

The offering brings together convenient branch services, financing benefits, supplementary cards and lifestyle support.

It also gives RCBC an opportunity to serve more members of a household through its existing premium banking network.

But the program’s commercial impact remains unproven.

The bank has not disclosed enrollment totals, additional family deposits or customer retention improvements directly attributable to Hexagon Club Family.

For consumers, the value will depend on which benefits are actually available, how frequently they are used and whether the household can continue meeting the eligibility requirements.

RCBC is turning premium banking into a family-oriented service by allowing qualified customers to share selected privileges with loved ones. The bigger question is whether its ₱500,000 deposit requirement and benefit conditions will deliver meaningful advantages for families — while giving the bank stronger customer relationships across generations.
