Jazreel Low Makes Surprise F&B Comeback With High Six-Figure Bet on New Bishan Park Cafe—And the Reason Behind It Is Personal

SINGAPORE — Former actress and entrepreneur Jazreel Low was enjoying semi-retirement, with plans to spend more time knitting and playing mahjong. But one familiar location changed everything.

When the restaurant space she once operated for years at Bishan-Ang Mo Kio Park became available again, Low found herself drawn back into Singapore’s notoriously challenging food-and-beverage industry—this time with a high six-figure investment and a brand-new concept called Shared Table.

The 60-year-old is partnering with Jerls Su, founder of the cafe Average Service, for the new venture, which is scheduled to open on September 14, 2026 at Bishan Park 2.

A Return Fueled by More Than Business

For Low, the decision to return to F&B wasn’t simply about spotting a business opportunity. It was deeply personal.

Over the past two decades, she has operated several dining concepts in Bishan-Ang Mo Kio Park, including The Green Room, Canopy Garden Dining and ToriYard. The site now occupied by Shared Table was previously home to Canopy Garden Dining for about 16 years before her company lost the tender for the location.

Low has since sold her stake in Canopy, but the opportunity to return to the same space proved difficult to ignore.

According to CNA Lifestyle’s report, Low said she likely would not have opened another restaurant if the location had not become available again. Winning the tender with Su was an emotional moment—underscoring just how much the park and the site still mean to her.

That personal connection could become one of Shared Table’s biggest stories: a veteran entrepreneur returning to familiar ground, not because she needed another business, but because she believed the space deserved another chance.

From Semi-Retirement to a Major New Investment

Low had stepped back from active work for around a year and a half after selling her overseas spa businesses. She continues to own Aramsa – The Garden Spa, located next to the new cafe, while a longtime team manages its day-to-day operations.

But Shared Table represents a significant return to the business world—and a major financial commitment at a time when Singapore’s F&B sector continues to face pressure from rising costs and intense competition.

Low is entering the market with her eyes open. She has acknowledged that food operators face a difficult environment, but believes her decades of experience in Bishan Park and her understanding of its visitors could give the new concept an advantage.

A New Partner—and a Different Perspective

Shared Table also brings together two entrepreneurs from different generations of Singapore’s F&B scene.

Su, 36, is the founder of Average Service, which opened in January 2025. Before launching his own venture, he worked in marketing and creative roles at Potato Head Folk and served as general manager of Thai tea brand ChaTraMue in Singapore.

Low reportedly became interested in working with Su after visiting Average Service and enjoying its food, music and overall atmosphere. The partnership combines Low’s long experience in hospitality and the Bishan Park area with Su’s newer perspective on contemporary cafe culture.

Shared Table: Wellness Without Going to Extremes

The new 110-seat cafe is designed around Asian-inspired, everyday comfort food with a focus on nourishing meals rather than strict dietary rules.

Its signature Nourish Plate, starting from S$21.90, allows diners to choose a grain, protein and two sides, accompanied by soup. The concept takes inspiration from the Japanese principle of ichiju sansai, which centres on a balanced meal built around soup and multiple dishes.

Menu options highlighted in early coverage include baked halibut, honey-glazed smoked duck, grilled chicken skewers, hummus with roasted mushrooms and a protein pancake topped with caramelised banana.

The approach marks something of a second attempt at bringing wellness-oriented dining to the park. Low previously opened The Green Room alongside Aramsa in 2006, but the vegetarian and vegan concept did not succeed commercially. This time, the goal appears to be broader: food that feels nourishing without being overly restrictive.

More Than Just Another Cafe?

Shared Table’s ambitions extend beyond food.

The venue features green tones, wood finishes and floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the park. Plans also include a pet-friendly alfresco area, a bar, a retail corner featuring local produce and selected products, as well as potential Sunday markets, workshops and wellness-related activities.

That reflects a lesson Low says she has learned over years in hospitality: good food alone may not be enough to make a dining business succeed. The overall experience and sense of community can matter just as much.

And perhaps that’s what makes Shared Table more than a celebrity-backed cafe opening.

For Jazreel Low, this is a return to a place filled with memories—and a high-stakes attempt to turn experience, sentiment and a fresh partnership into a new chapter.

The big question now is whether this familiar location can once again become a success story—and whether Low’s instinct to come back will prove right.
