GCash Parent Mynt Makes Stock Market History With ₱60.9-B IPO—But Can Its Shares Keep Rising?

MANILA, Philippines — October 20, 2026

The company behind GCash has officially entered the Philippine stock market, marking a major milestone for the country’s financial technology industry and delivering a historic moment for the Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE).

Mynt Inc., the parent company of GCash, began trading on the PSE on Tuesday, October 20, under the ticker symbol GCASH, following an initial public offering (IPO) that became the largest in Philippine stock market history.

According to GMA News, Mynt shares opened at ₱6.64 apiece, slightly above their final IPO price of ₱6.60. The listing gave the fintech company an opening market capitalization of approximately ₱441.5 billion, or around US$7 billion.

The landmark debut comes as Philippine market officials seek to attract more investors and strengthen activity in the local equities market.

Mynt’s ₱60.9-billion IPO breaks a Philippine record

Mynt’s public offering attracted strong interest from institutional investors in the Philippines and overseas. The company set its final IPO price at ₱6.60 per share after its book-building process, with demand exceeding the available shares several times over.

The offering covered approximately 8.03 billion common shares, with an additional overallotment option of approximately 1.20 billion shares.

At the final offer price, the firm offering was worth around ₱53 billion. If the overallotment option was fully exercised, the total amount raised could reach approximately ₱60.9 billion, surpassing Monde Nissin’s ₱52.2-billion IPO in 2021.

The Philippine Stock Exchange described the listing as a significant milestone for the local capital market, with the potential to encourage more technology and financial services companies to consider going public.

Why the GCash parent’s listing matters

Mynt’s stock market debut is significant because GCash has become an important part of everyday financial transactions in the Philippines.

Through its digital platform, users can send and receive money, pay bills, make purchases, access savings products, apply for loans, and use investment and insurance services, subject to product eligibility and requirements.

The company’s listing gives public-market investors an opportunity to own shares in the business behind one of the country’s most widely used digital financial platforms.

It also puts the performance of a major Philippine fintech company under greater public-market scrutiny, as investors assess its financial results, growth strategy, competitive position, and ability to generate sustainable earnings.

According to Reuters, Mynt is backed by Globe Telecom, Ant Group, and Ayala-linked interests. Its business covers a range of digital financial services, extending beyond the GCash wallet itself.

Strong financial results support investor interest

Mynt’s latest reported financial results provide additional context for the attention surrounding its IPO.

Reuters reported that the company posted first-half 2026 revenue of ₱43.27 billion, up 10.4% from the comparable period, while net income increased 7.3% to ₱10.82 billion.

These figures indicate continued growth in the company’s business. However, investors will still need to assess whether that growth can be sustained amid competition, regulatory requirements, operating costs, and changing consumer demand.

The company’s stock market debut does not guarantee that its share price will continue rising. Like other listed stocks, GCASH shares may fluctuate depending on company performance, market sentiment, and broader economic conditions.

Marcos welcomes the historic listing

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. welcomed Mynt’s market debut, expressing hope that the IPO would help renew investor confidence and encourage greater participation in the Philippine capital market.

In remarks reported by GMA News, Marcos pointed to the importance of attracting fresh capital and opening more opportunities for Filipinos to participate in the stock market.

The listing could also encourage other Philippine companies, particularly those in technology and digital services, to explore public offerings as a way to finance expansion and strengthen their businesses.

However, the longer-term effect on the stock market will depend on whether the listing generates sustained investor interest and encourages more companies to follow.

What should investors watch next?

Mynt’s debut is only the beginning of its journey as a publicly traded company.

Investors will be watching its future financial reports, earnings growth, expansion into digital financial services, competitive position, and ability to maintain user engagement.

The stock’s performance after its opening session will also be important in assessing how the market values the business beyond the initial excitement surrounding its record-breaking IPO.

For ordinary Filipinos, the listing highlights the growing connection between digital finance and the country’s capital markets. However, buying shares remains an investment decision that requires research and an understanding of the risks involved.
