Changi Airport Named World’s Best as Suvarnabhumi Rises to 36th

Singapore Changi Airport has retained its position as the world’s best airport in the 2026 Skytrax World Airport Awards, while Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi Airport climbed to 36th place.

The latest ranking marks Changi’s 14th win in the 27-year history of the Skytrax awards. The airport also received recognition for its dining and immigration services.

Changi topped a list dominated by major Asian aviation hubs. Seoul’s Incheon International Airport ranked second, followed by Tokyo’s Haneda Airport in third. Hong Kong International Airport came fourth, while Tokyo’s Narita Airport ranked fifth.

Paris Charles de Gaulle, Rome Fiumicino, Istanbul, Munich and Vancouver completed the top 10.

Suvarnabhumi improved from 39th place in 2025 to 36th this year, continuing its upward movement in the global rankings. The Bangkok airport also received a four-star Skytrax rating, up from three stars previously.

The improvement comes as Thailand continues to invest in airport infrastructure and passenger services at its main international gateway. Suvarnabhumi serves as a major hub for international travel to and from Thailand and plays an important role in supporting the country’s tourism industry.

Suvarnabhumi also ranked fourth among the world’s leading airports in the 60-million-to-70-million passenger category.

Don Mueang International Airport, another major Bangkok gateway, ranked seventh in Skytrax’s World’s Best Low-Cost Airline Terminals category.

The 2026 Skytrax rankings were based on passenger feedback collected from travellers around the world. The survey assessed more than 500 airports on areas including check-in, security, immigration, facilities, shopping, dining and overall passenger experience.

Asian airports continued to dominate the upper end of the rankings, with five of the world’s top five airports located in the region.

Changi’s latest victory reinforces Singapore’s position as one of Asia’s major aviation hubs, while Suvarnabhumi’s improved ranking highlights Thailand’s continuing efforts to raise airport standards and strengthen Bangkok’s position as an international travel gateway.
