CEBU, Philippines — Cebuano boxer Joperson Trazo is facing an important challenge on the international stage as he prepares to take on a fighter known as the “Filipino Slayer” in a title fight in Thailand, according to Cebu Daily News.
The matchup puts the spotlight on Trazo, one of Cebu’s developing professional boxing talents, as he looks to build his reputation beyond the local boxing scene.
The Thailand assignment could provide another opportunity for the young fighter to demonstrate his skills against a challenging opponent. However, the outcome will ultimately depend on the action inside the ring.
Trazo’s road back to winning form
Trazo entered 2026 looking to rebuild momentum after an inconsistent 2025 campaign.
In a report published by SunStar Cebu on February 1, 2026, Trazo returned to the winner’s circle after defeating previously unbeaten Benjie Jabagat by unanimous decision in the main event of Fist of Fury: Binukbokay sa Talisay at the Bulacao Sports Complex in Talisay City, Cebu.
The judges scored their 10-round contest 99-91, 98-92 and 97-93, all in Trazo’s favor.
That victory improved his professional record to seven wins, two losses and one draw, including two victories by knockout, according to SunStar Cebu and PhilBoxing.com.
Trazo used his reach effectively and landed more punches throughout the bout, helping him control the contest against Jabagat.
The victory was particularly important because Trazo had suffered a unanimous-decision loss to Carlo Diaz VII in Manila on October 26, 2025.
A former Philippine champion with international ambitions
Trazo has already experienced success in domestic championship boxing.
In February 2025, he defeated Marlon Alejandro by unanimous decision to claim the Philippine Boxing Federation minimumweight title. According to SunStar Cebu, Trazo scored knockdowns in the third and sixth rounds before securing the victory on the judges’ scorecards.
That performance established him as a promising prospect in Cebu’s boxing community.
His subsequent professional career has included both victories and setbacks, illustrating the competitive demands facing young boxers as they progress through the ranks.
Why the Thailand fight matters
An international title fight can offer a boxer valuable experience and an opportunity to strengthen his standing in the sport. For Trazo, the matchup represents another test of his ability to compete outside his home province and against a different opponent.
The challenge will be to translate his previous performances into another strong showing while dealing with the pressure and demands of a championship contest.
Still, the stakes should not be overstated before the fight takes place. The precise title at stake, the opponent’s full identity and professional record, and the scheduled fight date require confirmation from the original event announcement.
For Cebu boxing fans, the central question remains whether Trazo can turn his latest opportunity into another significant step in his professional career.
Will Joperson Trazo make his mark in Thailand and bring home a championship victory? The answer will be decided in the ring.
