MANILA, Philippines — More than 12,000 employees of the Land Bank of the Philippines (LANDBANK) are gaining expanded access to medical examinations, round-the-clock doctor consultations, and mental health services under a nationwide healthcare partnership with KonsultaMD and Healthway Medical Network.
The initiative covers personnel working across more than 600 LANDBANK branches and other locations throughout the Philippines, bringing together traditional medical examinations and digital healthcare services through a single mobile platform.
For one of the country’s major state-owned financial institutions, the move represents more than an employee benefits upgrade. It reflects a growing shift among Philippine employers toward preventive healthcare, continuous medical monitoring, and more accessible mental health support.
But as healthcare costs continue to rise, a bigger question is emerging: Could technology-driven healthcare become the new standard for Filipino workers?
12,000 LANDBANK Employees to Benefit From Expanded Healthcare Services
The partnership combines the medical infrastructure of Ayala-backed Healthway Medical Network with KonsultaMD’s digital healthcare platform under Metro Pacific Health Tech.
Through the KonsultaMD application, participating LANDBANK employees can book their annual medical examinations, access medical results, connect with licensed doctors, and seek mental health consultations.
Instead of receiving annual examination results without further guidance, employees will have access to post-examination medical consultations designed to help them understand their health conditions and determine appropriate next steps.
The arrangement forms part of LANDBANK’s 2026–2027 Annual Medical Examination (AME) Program.
Healthway Medical Network, the hospitals and clinics arm of AC Health, operates seven hospitals, 18 multi-specialty centers, and more than 350 corporate clinics nationwide.
That network provides physical healthcare facilities to complement the telemedicine services delivered through KonsultaMD.
The initiative is particularly relevant for employees assigned to locations outside major urban centers, where access to specialist consultations and follow-up medical services can be more challenging.
Beyond Annual Checkups: Doctors Available Around the Clock
One of the partnership’s central features is access to 24/7 online medical consultations.
KonsultaMD enables employees to connect with licensed medical professionals through a digital platform, reducing the need for some routine consultations to begin with an in-person hospital or clinic visit.
The program also integrates mental health support, allowing employees to schedule consultations and access guidance beyond conventional physical examinations.
Structured mental health screening surveys form part of the wider medical examination program, according to Healthway’s partnership announcement.
KonsultaMD head of business-to-business operations Florence Pacia emphasized that the objective is to help employees better understand and manage their health beyond their annual checkups.
This approach is intended to turn routine medical examinations into an ongoing process of monitoring, consultation, and follow-up care.
However, virtual consultations do not replace medical procedures, emergency treatment, or physical examinations when those services are necessary.
LANDBANK Pushes Employee Wellness as Healthcare Costs Rise
LANDBANK President and CEO Lynette Ortiz has emphasized the bank’s commitment to employee well-being, describing comprehensive healthcare support as an investment in the people who deliver financial services to communities across the country.
The initiative comes at a time when Philippine employers are confronting increasing healthcare expenses.
According to figures cited in the October 13 InsiderPH report from professional services firm Aon, medical plan costs in the Philippines are projected to rise by 14% in 2026, significantly faster than the 2.9% general inflation projection used in that comparison.
For employers, rising medical expenses create pressure to balance the cost of employee benefits with workforce health needs.
For workers, better access to timely consultations could help identify problems earlier, support appropriate treatment, and reduce some of the inconvenience associated with routine medical care.
Still, whether programs like LANDBANK’s produce measurable savings or improvements in employee health will depend on participation, follow-up treatment, service availability, and actual health outcomes.
Ayala and Metro Pacific Healthcare Platforms Join Forces
The collaboration also highlights the increasingly important role of major Philippine business groups in digital healthcare.
Healthway Medical Network operates under Ayala’s AC Health, while KonsultaMD is part of Metro Pacific Health Tech.
Their partnership combines physical healthcare facilities with technology-enabled consultations and medical service coordination.
The relationship between the healthcare providers predates the LANDBANK program.
In June 2023, KonsultaMD announced a broader collaboration with AC Health’s Generika Drugstore and Healthway Medical Network to improve healthcare access in the Philippines.
More recently, Healthway has continued expanding its outpatient network, including the opening of its 18th multi-specialty center at Ayala Malls Manila Bay in April 2026 and a flagship facility at One Ayala in July.
These developments reflect an industry strategy that increasingly connects hospitals, clinics, pharmacies, diagnostics, and telemedicine.
Additional Pharmacy Benefits Included
The LANDBANK healthcare arrangement also involves pharmacy partners Generika Drugstore and St. Joseph Drug.
According to Healthway, the two pharmacy networks will offer participating employees exclusive discounts and additional healthcare benefits.
These offerings extend the program beyond examinations and online consultations, potentially helping employees access recommended medications and other eligible healthcare services.
Specific savings will depend on the discounts, products, and eligibility conditions applicable to the program.
A Deal That Started Months Before the October Announcement
While the expanded healthcare support gained attention in October, the partnership had already been formalized earlier in 2026.
KonsultaMD disclosed that the memorandum of agreement was signed on July 27, 2026.
Healthway subsequently published details of the 2026–2027 Annual Medical Examination Program on August 27.
The October coverage therefore highlights the implementation and broader significance of an established healthcare partnership rather than an entirely new agreement signed that month.
Could This Become the Future of Employee Healthcare in the Philippines?
The LANDBANK initiative could provide a useful example for Philippine employers seeking to make healthcare services more accessible across geographically dispersed operations.
Its structure connects annual medical examinations with digital consultations, mental health support, and follow-up guidance.
That continuity of care is especially relevant for organizations managing employees across hundreds of branches and provincial locations.
But important questions remain.
Can large-scale digital healthcare programs demonstrate measurable improvements in employee health? Will healthcare providers have sufficient capacity to serve growing corporate demand? And can smaller businesses afford similar benefits for their employees?
The LANDBANK partnership does not yet answer those questions.
What it does demonstrate is a growing willingness among major employers and healthcare providers to move beyond the traditional once-a-year medical examination.
For more than 12,000 LANDBANK employees, expanded access to healthcare is the immediate benefit. For the wider Philippine workforce, the bigger story may be whether this kind of continuous, technology-enabled medical support becomes a lasting workplace standard.
