Singapore has become a filming location for South Korean stars, with actress Pyo Ye-jin and Single’s Inferno 5 cast member Jo I-geon spotted working on a new drama in the city.
Behind-the-scenes footage shared on social media showed the pair filming scenes outside the JW Marriott Hotel Singapore South Beach. I-geon was seen behind the wheel of a red MG Cyberster, while Pyo appeared in several scenes wearing different outfits.
The car belongs to Singaporean bespoke tailor Benjamin Tay, who shared footage of the production on Instagram. Tay said a production company had approached him about using the vehicle for filming, with a South Korean actor expected to drive it.
I-geon also shared photographs from Singapore in late August and September, including images taken at the JW Marriott hotel.
The filming is connected to a new Singapore-South Korea production titled Collateral Romance, although I-geon is not part of the officially announced main cast.
The 12-episode romantic comedy stars South Korean actor Kim Myung-soo, also known as L of K-pop group Infinite, and Pyo Ye-jin. Singaporean actress Gladys Bay is also part of the cast.
The series follows Lee Jeong-sik, played by Kim Myung-soo, a free-spirited timber dealer with a passion for trees, and Na Da-woon, played by Pyo Ye-jin, a practical merchandising director who wants a stable and ordinary life.
The two characters meet unexpectedly in an unfamiliar city and become involved in an incident that brings their lives together. As they spend more time with each other, their contrasting personalities gradually give way to an unexpected relationship.
Bay plays Chu Jini, the daughter of a Singaporean mother and Korean father. Her character travels to South Korea to participate in a dance audition programme and eventually becomes an important source of support for the people around her.
Collateral Romance is being co-produced by Singapore’s Mediacorp and Korean content company Blintn, with Bigwave Entertainment serving as the production house.
The drama is being filmed in both Singapore and South Korea and is scheduled to premiere in the first half of 2027. Broadcast details have not yet been announced.
The production marks Mediacorp’s second Korean drama co-production and comes as Singapore continues to attract Korean productions. Other recent projects filmed in the city include the romance-thriller Spooky in Love and the upcoming drama Buy King.
Mediacorp has also announced a separate partnership with Korean production company Studio S and short-form drama platform Soonshot to develop four microdramas featuring Singaporean and Korean talent.
The growing number of Korean productions filming in Singapore reflects increasing collaboration between the entertainment industries of both countries, while giving local locations and performers greater exposure to regional audiences.
