Lady Gaga Wants Daughter Rose to Have a Normal Childhood Away From Fame

Lady Gaga is embracing motherhood while trying to protect her newborn daughter from the intense public attention that has followed her career for years.

The 40-year-old singer and her fiancé, Michael Polansky, welcomed their first child, a daughter named Rose Bean Polansky, earlier this year. The couple has been keeping their family life largely private as they adjust to parenthood.

People close to the couple say Gaga wants Rose to experience as normal a childhood as possible despite growing up with one of the world’s most recognizable entertainers as her mother. The family has reportedly gone on private outings together but has otherwise maintained a small circle around the baby.

Gaga has long spoken about her desire to become a mother. In a 2025 interview, she also discussed wanting her future children to develop their own identities rather than being defined by her fame or career.

She said she and Polansky had talked about allowing their children to become their own people and deciding for themselves what they think about their mother’s work and public image.

That approach is now taking on a more immediate meaning as Gaga begins raising her first child.

The singer’s public profile makes privacy particularly difficult. She has spent much of her career in the global spotlight, from her music and elaborate performances to major film roles and red-carpet appearances.

Yet the couple has recently been keeping a lower profile. They reportedly took time away from work during the summer to focus on their newborn, while Gaga has been photographed on private family outings in Northern California.

Rose’s birth was confirmed in September after her birth certificate became public. The document identified her full name as Rose Bean Polansky and recorded her birth on June 9 in Los Angeles.

The name Rose is believed to have a connection to Edith Piaf’s “La Vie en Rose,” which Gaga performed in the 2018 film A Star Is Born. The origin of the middle name Bean has been linked by reports to singer and activist Carl Bean, who inspired Gaga’s song “Born This Way.”

For Gaga, motherhood also represents a chapter she had publicly anticipated for years. In a 2025 appearance, she described becoming a mother as something she hoped would be her next major role, after previously speaking about her hopes of having children.

Now, rather than introducing Rose to the spotlight, Gaga appears focused on keeping her daughter largely outside it.

The challenge will be maintaining that private family life as public interest grows around the first child of one of the world’s biggest pop stars — but for now, Gaga and Polansky are keeping their attention on their small family and giving Rose space to grow away from the cameras.
