Jumbo Seafood to Close East Coast Flagship With Special Charity Menu

Jumbo Seafood will close its flagship outlet at East Coast Park on Sept 30, bringing an end to nearly four decades at the location where the home-grown restaurant chain began.

The East Coast outlet first opened in 1987 and has since become one of Singapore’s best-known seafood dining destinations.

Ahead of the closure, Jumbo will introduce a special celebratory set menu from Sept 21 to 29 featuring signature dishes and nostalgic favourites that are no longer part of its regular menu.

The set menu will be available for groups of four to 10 people, with prices starting from S$258++.

Among the dishes being brought back are Jumbo’s award-winning chilli crab with mantou, chilled Australian lobster with salad cream and mixed fruits, and its signature homestyle crispy seafood tofu.

Jumbo said 50 per cent of proceeds from sales of the special set menu will be donated directly to six selected charitable organisations as part of its efforts to give back to the community.

Customers who order the celebratory menu will also have a chance to receive a goodie bag while supplies last.

The restaurant’s final day will feature a special celebratory dinner bringing together business partners and suppliers to recognise the people who have contributed to the outlet’s success over the years.

The closure is taking place as the East Coast Seafood Centre prepares for redevelopment. The National Parks Board previously informed tenants that they would need to vacate the premises in 2026 as part of plans to rejuvenate the facility and surrounding areas.

Jumbo had said it was exploring other locations to continue serving customers after leaving East Coast. The group currently operates several outlets in Singapore as well as restaurants in other markets.

The East Coast outlet has also played an important role in Jumbo Group’s business. It accounted for about 14 per cent of the group’s revenue in the financial year ended September 2025.

Jumbo Group’s executive chairman and chief executive officer Ang Kiam Meng said the company was bidding farewell to the place where Jumbo began while celebrating 39 years of shared memories and the people who helped build the restaurant.

For many customers, the closure marks the end of an era for a restaurant closely associated with Singapore’s seafood dining culture, particularly its chilli crab and waterfront setting.

The special menu and charity initiative will give diners an opportunity to revisit some of the outlet’s signature dishes before the East Coast flagship closes its doors at the end of September.
